"I can't believe we're all finally going to college. This is insane." Riley excitedly exclaimed as she gripped the string of her balloons that had stated, "Good Luck" on it. Maya thought that was funny because it could've been some sarcastic remark that was written on there.
But generally speaking, yes, they were finally going to college. Maya and Riley coincidentally got into the same college- though they're taking different courses. It was gonna be her, Riley, and Purchase college in New York. But that was the good news. And now for the bad news; Lucas is going to Texas A&M University. He finally got his wish to study into being a Veterinarian. He decided he wanted to be closer to his family for a little while, also. Farkle, Riley's current boyfriend, ended up being accepted to NYU, where he's going to major in history.
But it was time for all of them to say goodbye.
They all had grown a lot older over the years. Maya grew a couple of inches taller surprisingly, and her blonde hair had highlights within some strands. She had a great upper body and toned womanly legs-not that she really tried anyway.
Riley grew up gorgeous. Her soft chocolate hair was cut shorter just by a little bit. She definitely changed her wardrobe, and had many fashion changes over the years.
They all changed for the better, and still remained the best of friends. They all knew from the start that nothing was going to change that, and that they'd be close even with the far distance.
"It is crazy, isn't it?" Maya smiled slightly, and held her old high school graduation cap. "We had so many memories. Too many to count." She bit her lip as she felt her heart sink in her chest, almost having the feeling she was going to cry. "I don't know how we managed to do all of this."
"Pretty incredible, I'd say." Farkle agreed. Lucas walked into the room and smiled at all of them in greeting.
"I have a cab that's gonna come in 10 minutes." He said, nodding as he tried to keep a steady smile. It fell eventually, and he scratched the back of his neck.
"Already?" Riley asked, raising her brows. "It's so sudden." She laced her hand in Farkle's, standing closer to him.
"Yeah. Pappy Joe wanted me to leave a couple of days early." Lucas humorously said. Maya looked at him uneasily.
"Well Ranger Rick, this has been a crazy amount of years." Maya raised her brows and smiled. "And this is going to be your first official hug from me." Lucas chuckled at this. She walked over and wrapped her arms around him, filling the embrace. Lucas held on to her, and smelled the lavender from her perfume she has put on. He mentally made a note of what it felt like to hug her. It felt warm and safe, and full of love. Love he had for her.
Yeah, he seemed to leave that detail out.
He had loved Maya Hart for 3 years, and never said a word to her.
And now, he was too late to say anything otherwise. Lucas furrowed his brows and almost thought about caressing her back, but didn't. He pulled away and looked at her. She smiled, and looked back at her friends. He was so in love with her. And now he was going to lose her.
"Bye Lucas." Riley gave him a sad smile, and pulled him into a hug. He smiled sadly also, and she pulled away. "Don't you forget me in Texas."
"Not a chance, Riles." Lucas responded, sighing.
"I can't believe this is really happening now." Maya shook her head in disbelief. She turned to Riley, and smiled. "We'll never stop taking on the world. It's you and me, in the adult world." Riley smiled, and hugged her friend.
"You better call me as soon as you get there, my beauty." Farkle raised his eyebrows and Riley smirked.
"Of course." She responded and kissed his cheek.
"PDA overload." Maya looked away, smiling. Riley looked back at her friend and rolled her eyes.
"You'll live." Riley replied to her friend.
"Okay. Well, I think we should start heading now. Lucas took a deep breath, and looked at each of his friend's faces. Maya looked at him, her lips slightly parted, like she had lost something, or was in the midst of looking for something.
It's not too late. A voice said in the back of his mind.
Don't do it, Lucas. She's leaving.
Another voice said from the back of his mind. Lucas looked back at her with the same expression, and was no longer smiling.
"Yeah." She said, clearing her throat as her eyes stayed with his. "I, I think we should go down now." She tucked a strand of blonde curly hair behind her ear, and they all began walking out of her apartment. Cory and Topanga both hugged Riley tightly, and kissed her on the forehead.
"Let us know when you're there, okay?" Cory smiled, and Riley nodded.
"We love you so much." Topanga added, tears forming in her eyes. Riley smiled as some tears formed in her eyes also.
"I love you both too. I'll let you know as soon as possible." She said. And with that, she left the apartment, beginning to take on the world with her best friend.

Three cabs were waiting outside. Farkle's, Lucas's, and Maya & Riley's. They stood outside of them, and were having their last talks until they separated.
"Well, here goes nothing." Maya bit her lip, and looked at the two boys. Farkle smiled, and hugged her, caressing her blonde hair. They pulled away, and Maya let out a shaky breath. "I didn't know it'd hurt this much."
"Me neither." Riley wiped a tear off her cheek, sniffling. Farkle nodded sadly, and sighed.
"I'll talk to you all later on. Video chat later." Farkle said, before walking into the cab.
"Bye!" The three others said as he closed his door. Farkle waved, and the cab began to drive off. Riley looked at the two cautiously, and sucked in a breath.
"I'll wait in the cab." Riley gulped, and waved to Lucas before siting in the backseat. Maya chuckled at the girl, and looked back at Lucas.
"Well, this is really it now." Maya took a breath. Lucas nodded awkwardly, and they both looked down. He looked up and pulled her into another embrace and she wrapped her arms around him, breathing in his smell through her nose quietly Maya bit her lip, pulled away, and then began pulling her rolling luggage to her side. "I guess I'll see you, uh, whenever." She nodded also, and began pulling in toward the cab.
Lucas mentally cursed at himself, and said under his breath, "Dammit Lucas, you waited this long."
That unintentionally called Maya's attention. She turned to him.
"For what?" She asked, arching an eyebrow up.
"Oh... Nothing. It's stupid." Lucas shook his head in denial. Maya fully turned to him.
"No... Really. What?" Maya pressed.
"Well, I just." He looked at the girl uneasily. He opened his mouth again, but the words wouldn't come out. He looked into her blue curious eyes, and huffed. Seconds later, he immediately pulled her toward him, captured her lips with his, and cupped her cheeks. She raised her brows as he held her face, and before she could do anything, he pulled away. Her blonde curls waved in the wind as she looked back at him.
"Lucas," Maya tried to process what had just happened, but she was completely taken aback at the action.
"I'm sorry." Lucas looked at her, feeling worse than he did earlier. What had he just done?
"I can't... Do this right now. Lucas, your timing." Maya put her luggage into the trunk and closed it. Before Lucas could say anything, Maya hopped in the cab with a stunned Riley, and it drove out fast and suddenly.
