 ALEXIS’S P.O.V.

I was all but jumping up and down on the stool in the kitchen, unable to restrain my excitement and anxiety, unaffected by Derek, who was laughing heartedly at me. “Gee, Alexis! Get a grip! You’re on your way to school, not to his freaking bed!”

I stuck my tongue out at him. “I’m not just going to school, and you KNOW it Derek! Today I’ll actually meet my mat, and I’ll have to make him like me the hard way, because he doesn’t even know he HAS a mate, let alone that I’m his, but I’m not even worried about that, because I’ll find a way to be with him all day long and AAAAAAAAHHHH! I’ll blow up, Derek!”

I doubted he understood any of that, because I was speaking so fast not even I was. He stopped laughing, though, and hopped off his own stool to wrap me in his suffocating bear hug. “Chill, sis. He’ll feel SOMETHING about you straight away. Half-blood or not, he’s still your mate. You’ll be fine.” He pulled back a little to look at me, and smiled. “And if he hurts you in anyway… even if it’s just by not loving you the first time he sees you… I’ll always be here to punch the living shit out of him”

I laughed, feeling much better. I squeezed his waist before taking a step back. “Thanks D. But I don’t think I’d be very happy if you ‘punched the living shit out of him’.” We both chuckled, as I looked at him. I didn’t know when the way I felt around Derek had changed, but I knew how I felt with him now. It felt good, safe. “You know… I never thought I’d like having a big brother.”

He smiled, sitting back on his stool. “You do, then?” I nodded, and he grinned. “Good. ‘Cause I really do like having a little sister. More than I like having Drake as a little brother, and that’s a lot.” I smiled too. Everyone knew Derek adored Drake and Drake all but worshiped Derek. “Want me to go with you?”

I put my cup down and hopped off the stool. “Sure. Run with me?” he nodded, and we left for the woods.

I ran into the office in wolf speed, because… call me crazy for not wanting to face the glares from the girls and the chat up lines from the boys, which I knew would come. I could still feel Derek’s reproachful stare on my back as I closed the door behind me. *What?! I don’t want to have you murder half of the school just because of the way I know they’ll treat me. Now go home, I’ll talk to you when I get there. If I need to seem normal, I won’t be able to keep talking to you like this.*

I felt him running back without an answer as I smiled shyly to the secretary behind the counter. He was such a child. She smiled back at me, motioning for me to come closer. “Hello, dear. You registered yesterday, isn’t that right?” I nodded, smiling more authentically at her. “Here’s your timetable. Your teachers will give you your books. And this is a simple map of the school, so that you won’t get lost. Everything ok?”

I nodded again. “Yes. Thank you. I think I’ll… get going. I don’t want to be late.” I don’t want to waste another second away from my mate. She nodded and I went back out, in human speed this time.

“Hey beautiful, what’s your name?”

“Wow, hot!... Hey, I hadn’t seen you around before!”

“Hey, wanna go out tonight?”

I ignored the stupid lines, taking a deep breath to calm myself. Some of them were creative enough to even make me blush. Those kids sure did know how to embarrass a girl. Such a bunch of idiots. I made sure to ignore the jealous girls’ glares as well. And the little comments made by the usual Barbies.

I was completely annoyed when I reached my first class, Maths. Which of course wouldn’t add anything to my mood. I hated maths. But that class wouldn’t be that bad. That because I knew Anthony would share it with me. In fact, checking my schedule informed me that the only class I wouldn’t share with him would be P.E., which was done separately by boys and girls. That was enough to take away my bad mood and put a smile on my lips.
