ALEXIS’S P.O.V.
Derek was still asleep when I left for my second day at the new school. I didn’t want to wake him up just to say bye. Instead I left him a note stuck to the fridge’s door.
I shifted just a few feet away from the house, and ran happily to the school. I shifted back in the protection of the shadowy woods, just a few feet away from the school grounds, before walking calmly into the building. Again, I had to ignore the annoying lines and looks, but it had already gotten a bit less frequent.
My heart did a few somersaults in my chest, and my lips immediately twitched into a huge grin when I realized my perfect mate was awkwardly leaning against my locker, staring at his feet as if he didn’t want to be noticed. Which of course he didn’t.
Taking advantage of my animal side to make me stealthy enough that he wouldn’t notice my approach unless he looked up right on time, I sneaked up on him, standing right by his side, and leaned to whisper in his ear. “I believe that’s my locker you’re leaning against, Mr Adams.” My grin got wider when I saw him shiver at the feeling of my breath on his neck.
He gulped, taking a small step away from me, and I had to laugh lightly as I opened the locker to get my books. He was too cute. It was then his turn to whisper in my ear. How he had managed to get that close without me noticing it I had no clue. “So it is. Its owner left me waiting here for at least five minutes, you know.”
I shivered violently, feeling my eyes glaze over with the yellowish glint that was the mark that my wolf was showing. I pushed Luna back, growling mentally at her. No other female who wasn’t his family would touch my mate. Ever. Not even her. He was mine. I sighed, loving our proximity, and hating to have to break it, though slightly. “You don’t want to start this, Tony.” I meant my words. Being close to him put my hormones in a frenzy, and wolf hormones were just that much stronger than human ones.
He took a small step back, trailing his finger down my arm lightly. I shivered again. “What if I do?” I smiled to myself. So he liked challenges. I could give him one. In the same movement, I took my books out of the locker and turned around, closing the door. I was pleased to see his eyes widen as he took another involuntary step back.
I winked at him and ran a finger down his chest, stopping just a little over the hem of his jeans to whisper in his ear again, letting my breath fan over his neck. “Don’t start a war you can’t win, Tony.” I dragged out his name, smirking when I felt his shake, and walked away.
*Alex…* Derek’s tone was reproachful. It made me want to slap him. *What?! I’m in control of myself. There’s absolutely no problem when I KNOW he’ll be close.* obviously. *All I’m trying to say is take it slow. Don’t push him too far.* I sighed, knowing he was right. But that was pretty hard to admit when all I wanted was to drag my mate out of that school and jump his bones. *GUARD UP, Luna! I don’t wanna hear your dirty thoughts! And I know you don’t just want to ‘jump his bones’. Last time I checked you wanted him to actually like you.*
That was when Tony caught up with me, so I broke the mental connection without answering. Thinking about it, I could be pretty proud of what I had done. He had taken almost a whole minute to be able to move again. I smirked at him again and he rolled his eyes at me. “Fine. I won’t start it.” Unless he wanted to be raped – which was impossible, of course – that really was his best choice. “For now.” He mumbled under his breath, but of course I heard it, which made my smirk turn into a full out grin again. Of course, being my mate, he couldn’t just let it go that easily.
