Before you read:
One of my friends who's reading this told me she thought Alexis's shift should have been more painful, so I guess I should explain that. It really SHOULD have hurt more, but the thing is Luna is just sooo strong, and she kind of took away some of the pain. Sorry if it was confusing.

ALEXIS'S P.O.V.
I raced downstairs cussing at myself. Crap, I shouldn’t have let the meeting go on for so long. I hated rushing in the shower. My parents were at the bottom of the stairs, waiting for me. Aw, hell! You suck Alexis! I groaned. “Sorry I’m late, no need to try to make me feel any worse, I don’t think that’s possible.”
Mom chuckled. “They’re not here yet Alex, so for now you’re off the hook. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again. You’re better than that.”
Nice way to prove me nothing is impossible mom. That actually did get me to feel even worse. “Aw, thanks mom! As if I wasn’t feeling awfully guilty already!” Ugh, I hated myself in that moment.
Just then the doorbell rang, and I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down before walking to the front door. It worked surprisingly well. In a minute, the smile I had put on my face to open the door to Derek’s parents, who had been the first to arrive this time, was very close to being sincere. When the Guide arrived, completing the group, I was utterly happy about the meeting again.
All went silent when he walked into the living room, as we all showed him respect and waited for him to start my lesson. “Good evening, young She-Wolf. Tonight, you will learn about a very tricky area of our traditions. The art that is using and interpreting body language correctly.”
I had only been to one meeting, but the way the Elders started taking turns to speak was already familiar to me. “In the werewolf world, your body speaks as much as your words do. You can pass on to other wolves accurate messages just by the way you hold your body, or what you do with your hands. We will teach you all we can. After that, you must always pay extreme attention to what your body language says. One wrong move can start a war. So we must ask. Do we have your full attention, She-Wolf Alexis?”
Wow, this must be even more important than I had thought, for them to even bother to ask. “Yes sir.” I slightly bowed my head in respect, never taking my eyes off his.
“Good. Then you can start to understand the basic signs.”
“The challenge signs are the ones you must know best, and really look out for, so we will tell you about them first. This” he raised his arm, twisting his hand so that the palm was turned to me, and mad a pushing motion in my direction. Luna growled in the back of my head, recognising the gesture. “means ‘I do not trust you, and you have no authority over me.’ The wolf that does that will respect your superior rank ad keep their distance, but will more than gladly try to kill you if you approach.”
“This” another Elder stood up and traced a line with his right foot in front of him, making Luna growl in my head again. “means ‘Cross the line and I’ll start a fight.’ It might be used either referring to an actual limit line, between pack territories for instance, or to a virtual line set by the wolf who does it, concerning your actions.”
The next Elder was about to go on when I spoke up. I wouldn’t be able to stand Luna’s growls quietly for much longer. “Wait. Please.” They all looked taken aback, but seemed to understand when they saw my eyes cloud as I went to my internal conversation. *Luna, you’re driving me mad! Stop it right now! I need to learn! Besides, they don’t mean it!*
