ANTHONY’S P.O.V.
I raced after her, but every time I got close she would speed up, so that I could never reach her. It should get annoying, but my wolf – that annoying voice I’d been hearing, and that I had finally managed to name – was too present for that. I found out the hard way that chasing down a mate was the biggest turn on to any wolf. I felt her stop and sped up by instinct. My only thought was to claim her as mine, until I realized where she had led me.
She was standing with her back turned to me, looking at the lake that had surprised her on our first date. I growled and she huffed. *You’re not going to rape me, Anthony.*
Not after I realized where we were, but still. *If I hadn’t been so surprised about you bringing me here, believe me, I would. You shouldn’t have run away.*
I sat down beside her, tangling my tail with hers again, and she turned to look at me with humour in her eyes. *You wouldn’t. First because it’s not called RAPE if it’s consensual, jackass. And also because you’re not Alpha yet, so you’d have to submit to me.* I huffed. *Ooh, sexy. Now I’ve got a control freak for a girlfriend.* she laughed. Considering we were still in wolf form, that was awfully scary. *Oh, so that’s what you think?*
Her voice changed then, taking a dual tone dripping with authority. *Stay here.* then she ran away from me again. I tried to follow her, but it was as if there was something holding me down, stopping me from even moving. I whined, and she stopped right before going into the trees. *Aw, what’s wrong babe? Did your Luna pin you down?* She came back slowly, shaking her head. *You can’t not follow an Alpha’s order, Tony. And for now I’m your Alpha. But you should start getting used to give orders too. You’ll be Alpha too, soon.*
She released me, tangling our tails again, and staring into the lake. It felt so good to be around her like that. I could swear she was smiling. *I told you I have a lot to explain. I wasn’t joking.*
I nodded. *So you’re going to explain how on Earth I became a huge white monster?* She chuckled again. A wolf laughing was so not a nice sight. *Yeah, I will. That’s the easy part actually. You were never 100% human. You’re what we call a half breed – no offence. But you’d never be able to shift on your own. So Derek had to force the shift out of you. Now there’s no difference between you and us. You can shift whenever you like.*
I considered that for a moment. *You’re telling me one of my parents is a werewolf.* she nodded. That was a bit hard to assimilate. Until I remembered something. *It’s mom, isn’t it? That’s why you knew her before you even knew me.*
*Yeah. She challenged me on the first night I got here. I was in the backyard, watching you, and she saw me. She thought I was here to attack your family. But after I talked to her, she accepted that you were my mate. She helped me a lot.*
I was still shocked that my mom was a werewolf. But I guess that would have to wait. I needed to pay attention to anything else she had to tell me. She sighed. *I think we should go back. There’s too much you still need to know… I don’t think it’s a good idea to just tell you everything today. I’ll give you some time to get over what I’ve already told you before I tell you the really hard part.*
If that was the easy part, I wasn’t sure I wanted to know the hard one. That’s why I didn’t even argue. We ran together to her house, side by side. It took us only two minutes to get there. When the house was already in sight, I thought of a little problem. I had no idea what to do to shift back.
She went back to her human form without even stopping, and I was more than surprised to see her fully clothed. “Just concentrate on your human form. Your clothes only disappear if you want them to.”
