DEREK’S P.O.V.
Finally, Alexis was taking her mate home. I had always thought I wouldn’t like whoever he was, but Anthony was such a nice guy that I couldn’t even feel jealous of him. He would be a great Alpha, even if I was pretty clear that the dominant wolf in their relationship was not him. Not that I blamed him for that. Alexis really was a bit overbearing.
We got into the plane that would take us back to our pack, and I tried to get some sleep, since Alexis and I hadn’t had any during the night. TRIED being the main part there. Every time I started to blissfully doze off and be able to ignore their lovesick attitude, Alex would shout ‘you PUSS’ in my mind, and I would jump, just to see them both muffling laughter.
Couldn’t she just annoy Sasha, who was sleeping peacefully by my side?! Noooo. After repeating that about a thousand times, I just gave up and took out my iPod to pass the light time. If those guys weren’t my Alphas, I would already have kicked their asses for being so freaking annoying.
*Yeah, yeah. I know that, PUSS! Why do you think I’d even do it if it wasn’t for that?*I turned to in my seat to see her holding Anthony’s hand on her lap and smirking at me. I just shook my head and looked away again.
I put my iPod on random, and Something, by Escape the Fate (A/N: Song on the side) was the first song to come up. How freaking ironic. Some parts of it were so exactly what I had been thinking that it hurt. I wanted to find my mate. I wanted to feel what Alexis was feeling. Finding her other half had made her so much happier. When she had met him, she had gone back to her happy self that I hadn’t seen since the sixth grade, or something like that. I longed for someone that would do that to me. I wanted to mean ‘something to somebody else’, and I had to admit I was willing to wait as long as I had to. Derek the Player was going to retire, or so it seemed.
I just wished I had remembered to put my guard up. I didn’t have to ruin Alexis happiness with my whining. *You won’t have to wait long Derek. I know you’ll find her soon. You deserve it.* There was a bit of pain in her voice. My pain. At least about that I was happy. She really had formed a strong bond with me.
I dropped the subject. I didn’t really want to talk about it. My mate – or the lack of her – was my problem. Alex already had her own to worry about.
In a few hours – all right, a lot of them –, we finally landed in the small airport, and the familiar feeling of safety that came with being back to our pack land settled in. but there was something more there as well. Almost like a feeling that Alexis might actually be right. A kind of hope that took away my sadness. My wolf was awake, howling inside my head, even though the Full Moon would only come out on the next week. That was really weird.
ALEXIS’S P.O.V.
I had been by my perfect mate’s side for hours, and damn, was I happy about that. Even if the reason for my return wasn’t the best. Bugging Derek wasn’t so bad either. So I was in a good mood as I stepped out of the plane. Of course that couldn’t last. I should have known.
As soon as I took Tony’s hand again, in the luggage claim area, Peter mind linked me. *Welcome back Luna. We fixed everything about what happened, and the pack has calmed down already. But we have a bit of a situation.*
I sighed, dropping my mate’s hand to grab my bag. *What happened? I’ll be there in five anyway.* Tony stroked my cheek, sensing the change in my emotions. The question he didn’t want to ask so that he wouldn’t upset me was shining in his eyes.
