ALEXIS’S P.O.V.
“You didn’t tell me you lived in a mansion.” He gave my house a stunned look, and I frowned for a second. I never thought of it as a mansion, though I guess it really was one. To me, it was just my house.
I smirked at him “There’s a lot I didn’t tell you about my life here, Tony. I guessed some things would scare you more than me being a wolf.
He looked at the house again, this time a bit nervously. “Like what?”
I put my thoughtful face on, making him roll his eyes, and chuckled. “Like the fact that my dad is one of the richest and most powerful men in this country. Or that there’s a possibility that we end up in gossip magazines soon.”
His eyes got wide. “You’re kidding me, right?!” I shook my head, remembering when they found out about me and Brad being together. Stuff like ‘She’s not free anymore!’ and ‘Millionaire’s daughter seen with business man’s son’ kept coming up for a week. “you can’t be serious! They actually wrote that?!”
I nodded. “Yeah, I even kept a few. I must admit they are creative. Putting all the stories together, I found out I had met Brad during a party in a bar inside a cruise ship and our first kiss happened to the sound of My First Kiss by 3OH!3, when I was completely drunk. Which is really weird, if you think I remember him being my best friend since the seventh grade and kissing him or the first time in school, so obviously not drunk.”
We both laughed, and he put an arm around my waist. “What do you reckon they’ll say about us?”
“I don’t care. But I guess it’ll be something like ‘emergency replacement’ or ‘Wolfe’s daughter seen with unknown American two months after breakup’ and of course there’ll be all kinds of stories. Like how I met you when I was abroad trying to get over being dumped by Brad McCanon, my long-term boyfriend… or ex, now… or how there are rumours that my father arranged our marriage because your parents own a billionaire business in the U.S.” I rolled my eyes.
He frowned. “But if you told me your dad is so powerful, why doesn’t he stop that?”
I shrugged. “It’s good for business. You know, free publicity. You end up getting used to it. Besides, it never lasts more than a week. Other than that, we lead normal lives, like everyone else.” He just nodded in response.
He was getting more and more nervous with every step we took towards the house, so I stopped a few feet away from it and raised my eyebrows at him. He looked down slightly, “What? You can’t blame me for being a bit scared of meeting your father.”
I smiled and shook my head. I knew how he felt. “He’ll be nice. And mom will be so happy! I’m sure you’ll like them.”
He sighed “I could have told you that about MY parents. And you stood by the door for two whole minutes, knowing my mom, and that it’s the girl’s parents that are supposed to be overprotective.”
I bit my lip, knowing he was right. I couldn’t let him go on that nervous, though. “Come here.” I gave him my puppy dog eyes, opening my arms in my best ‘hug me’ pose.
He sighed again and pulled me close. I put my arms around his neck and kissed him until his mind went blank. I smiled into the kiss and pulled back, opening my eyes slowly. “See? Nothing to worry about, right?”
He groaned and let go of my waist, taking a step away from me. “Not fair. And it didn’t work either. I’m still afraid of your father.”
I huffed and took his hand, pulling him through the last feet to the porch. “Whatever. At least I tried. All YOU did was laugh at me.” I stopped and smiled reassuringly at him before opening the door…
