ALEXIS’S P.O.V.

After lunch, we went to Literature class. Tony had said a few things about the teacher, Mr Jones, and I must admit I was actually anxious to meet him. That’s why we got to his class rather early. We took seats in the back, like we had been doing so far, and went on with our endless chatting. I loved the fact that there never seemed to be lack of subject between us. We just talked about anything and everything, with not a care in the world.

The teacher walked in and smiled immediately when he saw me. I bit my lip, getting kind of nervous. He’d be the overly sociable guy who’d ask me to talk to everyone, of course. Surprisingly, instead of starting the class, or even telling everyone to sit down, he came to where we were. I could see Tony’s grin from the corner of my eye.

Mr Jones smiled welcomingly at me and sat on the table in front of ours. “Hello, I’m Harry Jones, the lucky man who’ll be teaching you Literature. And you are?”

I smiled. Tony was right. It was impossible not to like the guy. “Nice to meet you, Mr Jones. I’m Alexis Wolfe.” I never stopped laughing internally at the irony posed by the last name I’d gotten from being the Head Alphas’ daughter.

He seemed pleased that I so obviously liked him. “Well, Alexis, I’m glad you chose Anthony here to talk. It was about time someone realized what a waste not doing that is.” I smiled at him again. He kept rising in my concept. Anyone who was by my mate’s side was by my side. “Anyway, I’m sorry, but I have a deal with my students. All newbies must say something about themselves to the class. You don’t need to say much… anything will do.”

I nodded, unwillingly. I had seen that one coming. He whistled, loud enough to make all the chats stop. That was impressive, especially for a human. “Guys, we have a new girl here! Welcome her right, will you?” He nodded at me.

I sighed, stalling a bit. “Hi, um… I’m Alexis.” I stopped, having no idea as to how to go on. ‘I’m the She-Wolf of a huge pack of werewolves, and I’m here to get my mate to go home with me so that we can mate and try to win a war against the Hunters’ didn’t seem like a good idea.

Seeing my discomfort, the teacher smiled soothingly again, and helped me a bit. “Where did you come from, Alexis?”

I sighed in relief. That was easier. Though it was something I hadn’t told even Tony yet, that had been just because I thought it would startle him, not because it was a secret. Plus, I didn’t think anyone would believe the truth. “I’m Brazilian.” There were a few gasps, and one and two whispers. Just as I had thought. “I grew up in a small English speaking community in the South, though. It was… little tropical Britain. My school was totally British, with the same teaching methods, the same kind of uniform, and everything.”

Mr Jones’s eyebrows rose in surprise, and Tony’s did the same. Yeah, mate, I’m a wolf full of surprises. “Brazil, huh? So is all we hear about the Soccer Country true? And do you speak Portuguese?”

I sighed again. Typical. Soccer Country.  He didn’t even call the game its real name. “Not much of it’s true, actually. It is much hotter than here, but not so much in the South, where I lived. It actually snows a bit in the winter. Other than that, most of it’s all lies. Especially that annoying part about us living in the middle of the Amazon and walking around with monkeys and stuff like that. As a matter of fact, my hometown is one of the smallest of the State, and it’s bigger than this one. We also don’t walk around in bikinis. I hate Samba, and I can’t stand Carnival. It’s only celebrated with that big parade in Rio and São Paulo anyway. And I do speak Portuguese.”

He chuckled lightly at my little rant. “I hope you guys have learned something from this. No half-naked women, no wild animals, no Amazon. They’re just like us, only a bit… warmer.” I chuckled. That was true in more than one sense. “Do you think you could say something in Portuguese for us?”
