I once knew a girl,
Her hair flowed to her waist,
Her hands were rough,
The exact opposite of her heart,
She held her pain bottled up in deep,
Creating rippling waves,
Casting shadows on her soul,
Making her dip her head underwater,
Drowning her, keeping her from feeling despair.I once knew a girl,
Who wore black and blue,
To show the color of her soul,
She kept a smile on her face,
Making it hard to believe she was in pain.
She was beautiful like the moon,
But a part of her was always cast on by a shadow,
I believed her every word,
Not knowing she's hurt.I once knew a girl,
Who hung herself from the ceiling,
Blood dripping down her wrists,
Showing the tragedy within,
She kept a smile on her face,
Even when her foot wasn't touching the floor,
Even though,
She knew she's going straight back home.I once knew a girl,
She wrote a note,
Speaking words,
Filled with pain,
She told me things,
I hope I never get to say,
She said goodbye to a society that never cared,
And she said goodbye to me,
The one person who held her dear,
And she apologized for leaving me here.I once knew a girl,
Who was the most beautiful shade of blue.
