Nightmare

I watched as he took his life away
The tears rolling down his cheeks,
And the rain beating down on the concrete,
And I screamed for god to save him,
But some people just aren't meant to be saved,
And when he threw himself off of that roof,
I thought he was flying,
Soaring,
But in the end.....
He was only falling,
And he wasn't an angel like all the cliche poems say,
He was the devil in disguise,
And when he took his life away,
He went back to the place that lurked in his nightmares.

And maybe he didn't deserve the pain,
And maybe the disguise was to save him from the demons haunting him,
And maybe
His only home,
Was his own nightmare.

Nightmares
Are filled with sadness,
And endless waves of dreadfulness.
They take over your life,
And leave you breathless,
Gasping for air,
Death taunting you,
Teasing you,
And in the end,
You don't die,
You don't get your happily ever after,
You get years and years of nightmares,
Screaming at dawn,
Nights of restless sleep,
And staying up all night
Thinking about what life used to be.

He met his end,
The nightmares he remembered in detail,
Are now a sad reality.

He is dead,
His nightmares are over,
And yet have only just begun.
