Everyone is sitting around the table and you get finished saying grace. Wow its been so long since you said grace. Leland and Dog are the first to try the dinner you just made. Steak tips, mashed potatoes that you saved and garlic roasted asparagus. Their eyes bug open and you dont know if its good or bad. Dog speaks first, "Angel this is unbelievable!!! Where the did you learn to cook like this?" Everyone else is in agreement. Tim says "maybe you can give my wife a couple hints." "Youngblood Im gonna tell on you!" says Beth. You laugh because you havent heard a complement in the longest time. Leland asks you again "where did you learn to cook like that?" you say with a smile on your face
"ummmm I cant really say I just kind of picked it up." Duane Lee looks over to you and says, "any guy that passes this up for anything is stupid" he regrets it as soon as its said. Youngblood hits him up side the head. "I'm sorry Angel. I'm so sorry." You reach over the table and pat his hand and says "it's fine. Don't worry bout it." Dinner is done and everyone is sitting outside having a couple drinks and smoking. The kids are asleep. You cant help but noticed that Leland is close to you and he keeps looking at you. All of the sudden Beth says "Angel I'm sorry but there are no extra rooms right now." "She can stay in my room," Leland pipes "I'll sleep on the floor." You think for a minute and say "Ok." Everyone else is getting ready to go to bed. They all say goodnight to you and Leland. Beth and Dog are the last to say good night to you. "Angel Im happy to decide to stay with us. Before you know it youll be part of the family." Dog says as he hugs you. "Sista you dont have to hunt tomorrow so you, me and baby lyssa are going shopping and I dont want to hear any butts about it and well get you all fixed up too." She gives you kiss on the cheek. You sit down and he's still looking at you. You take a drag of your smoke and a drink of your beer and without even looking at Leland say "is there a reason you keep looking at me and why you offered your bed to me?" You keep looking ahead and take another drag. He takes a deep breathe and says "I really dont know. I mean weve helped other girls like you. But theres something about you and I just dont know what it is." You look at him and just kind nod your head not really understanding what he means. He gets up and goes into the kitchen and comes out with two more beers and a bag of ice. "Lets see if we can get the swollen down a little bit. Ok?" "Sure. Let me ask you something Mr. Chapman," he raises his eye brows and smirks, "Mr. Chapman is it? Ok whats up?" "Are you trying to get a drunk?" you both laugh. "No I'm not. Just thought youd like another one. Besides you dont strike me as someone who is that much of a light weight to get drunk off of two beers. Coronas none the less." "Excuse me sir but I do believe I've had four. Thank you and no Im not. I can shoot whiskey with the best of them. I can drink a 1/5 of jim bean and still stand still." You say as you laugh and so does he and you melt again. "ok miss thang I think you've had enough here. How often do you drink?" "Oh god I'm fine. I used to drink all the time but I stopped when I realized what Chris did to me when I drank. I only seem tipsy because Im tired I havent slept that well in a while."
Leland.
I didnt like where this convo was going. I can't believe how lovely she looked even all black and blue. She was an angel. She made me laugh. I dont think Ive laughed like this in a while. Shes beautiful. I would love to get to know her better. I finish my beer and look at her and she sleeping. She looks so peaceful when shes sleeping. So I pick her up bridal style and bring her into my room. I lay her on my bed and cover with the blankets. I lean over and give her a small peck on the forehead. I considered going to the living room to sleep but hen the kids would have woken me up in the morning and I really just wanted to sleep in a little bit. So I grab a couple extra pillows and a blanket and slept on the side of the bed on the floor of course. It was about 3:30am and I hear a whimpering sound. So I turn over and look at her. The crying gets a little louder. I get up and realize that shes still sleeping. I gently tap her shoulder trying to wake her. Then she screams "no no no no!" "Angel, Angel wake up its ok. Your ok. Im right here."

You were having a nightmare again. Then you heard Leland calling your name. You wake up looking into those big brown eyes. "I'm sorry. I didnt mean to wake you. I was having a nightmare." "It's ok. I just wanted to make sure your ok. Are you?" Leland asks, "yea I'm fine. Can you do me a favor?" you ask "sure whats up?" "Can you sit with me for a while? Please." "Of course I will." He climbs onto the bed and sits next to you. He smells really good. Your still half asleep. You curl up next to him. You feel his arm on your shoulder. You sit up a lil bit and give him a peck on the check and say "Thanks le-le for everything." "Honey dont even worry bout it. Im right here always. I promise that." He rubs your shoulder as you fall back to sleep. "Angel, Angel time to get up." Leland is standing up over you. His hair drips on your face. He doesnt have a shirt on. You sit up and look at him. "Wow I havent slept that good in a really long time." You get up and starting heading to the living room. "Thanks..le-le." and turn around and open the door to leave. You see that hes smiling at you. Beth and Baby Lyssa are sitting on the couch. "Morning sista." "Looking good Angel." Beth says. "Hey Angel did you sleep in your cloths?" Lyssa asks. "Yea I think so. Last thing I remember last night was talking with le-le and then waking up about 3:30 this morning. I guess I was having a nightmare." Beth and Baby Lyssa looked at each other and ask if your ok. "Oh yea Im fine. I was taking care of last night." Just then Dog and Tim walk in. "Hey Angel. How you feeling this morning?" "Im feeling a lot better this morning. Thanks again you guys," "Oh goodness, you really have to stop saying thank you its fine. Were really happy that youre here. Now hurry up and go get dressed so we can get going we have a lot to do today." Beth says to you as she laughs. You blush and ask where the bathroom is so you can go get ready. As your walking down the hall Leland comes out of the room and smiles at you.

Sleeping beside her last night was different. Not in a bad way just different. It was like I didnt have to try and impress her. I didnt think she remembered what she called me but she did. It felt good to have a different nick name, if thats what you want to call it. When I got out of the shower this morning Beth asked me if I would wake Angel cuz it was going to be a long day shopping. I said sure. After I woke her and she had gone into the living room. I just had to sit on the bed and think. Think about how I was going to go about this. As I was walking out of the room she was walking into the bathroom and we both kind of smiled at each other. "le-le is it now?" Beth asked as I walked in to the living room. I felt the color drain from my face. Baby Lyssa and Beth both smiled at me. Dog and Tim asked what they talking about. "She was having a nightmare last night and I woke her up. She asked me to sit with her and she thanked me and called me le-le. I kinda like it." "ok le-le" Duane Lee says as he walks into the living room. "Hey only she can call me that, ok?" "aweeeeeeeeeee," they all say together. "Son now take it easy. Shes been hurt." "I know Dad I know. I dont even think she likes me." Just then she walks out of the bathroom and she looks better then she did yesterday. And shes wearing some make-up that covers up most of the bruises. I'm speechless.
