My dad gives me a look, and even though I can't see his eyes through the mirrored shades, I know the look well enough, the one speaking of some serious ass kicking about to go down. "Andrea." He says, looking from to them.
"Back to Andrea." I mutter before walking off and hugging the boys, except for Luke, who seems perfectly content to stand there in black shorts and a Fall Out Boy t-shirt and watch the proceedings. I can't see his eyes from behind his sunglasses but I have the feeling he's watching me anyway.
Ashton awkwardly waves at my dad, who doesn't change stances. I'm already tired of this standoff. I sigh, shouldering my bag, and sauntering off. If they wanted to do this, they could. But I wanted to go lay down on the sand. The boys hurry after me, glad for an excuse to leave the scrutiny of my admittedly tall and well built father, who trails behind us, scowling at the world.
My dad catches up to us easily, pulling me aside. Michael takes one look at us and awkwardly rubs his neck. "We're just gonna go... Down here somewhere. C'mon lads." For once, no one argues and they follow him further down the beach, where they set up camp. I turn back to my dad.
"What?" I snap as he removes his shades, giving me the full force of his stare.
He sighs dramatically. "I thought you and I were going to spend some time together." His eyes drift away from me, and I follow his gaze. A busty blonde in a small bikini is strutting past us, shaking it all out for my dad.
I roll my eyes. "I think we both know you weren't planning on spending any time with me. Just go. Get some, like you always do." I spit out, already furious
"This isn't about me. This is about you and how the only friends you have are boys. They are teenage boys, you can't trust them. You new to put a stop to it. I don't want you turning into their plaything."
I gape at him, completely unbelieving. "It's okay for you to sleep around but not me? Hypocrite." I throw at him, already walking away. I could saw a lot more to him right now, but I get the feeling it wouldn't be a good idea to tell him about how it's too late. It may have escaped his notice I'm not a virgin anymore, but maybe I shouldn't tell him that just yet. He doesn't try and stop me. We both know I'm right.
I wander over to the boys, flinging myself down on the towel by Calum. "You okay?" He asks, flicking my bikini tie, which is peeking out from the back of my shirt.
I don't look up. "Yep. Fine. Go have fun." I can hear the sound of shirts being shed as they make for the water when suddenly I feel a presence sinking down into the sand next to me. I crack open an eyelid, not altogether surprised at who it is. I'm more surprised by what he's been hiding.
Luke lost his shirt too, and he's siting next to me in just black swim shorts. I try not to stare at the ink swirling around his nicely toned torso, but before I can stop myself, I reach out and touch a small ship inked near his hips. I try to ignore the thrill I get at touching him as he carefully looks at me.
"Have you ever considered not touching random boys?" He asks, smirking over at me. I ignore that too.
"What's it for?" I can't help but ask, studying the small ship.
When he answers, his voice isn't cocky or trying to be smooth, just normal. It makes me realize just how deep it really is. "I guess it's just to remind me I can sail anywhere I want to. A world of possibilities."
I nod. "I like it."
"Do you have any tattoos, Ms. Andy Clementine?" He asks in turn, looking at me likes he's trying to find any traces of ink.
"Not yet. But I will." He grins at me.
"I'm sure you will."
I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean, so I don't say anything, just listening to him hum a familiar tune under his breath.
