Sadness' Like Rain

Sometimes nothing particularly monumental happens, but you feel like you just want to slip away all the same.

We all have those days, we just don't like to admit it.

Because who can be sad for no reason, right?

When there are so many awful things happening all over the world, all the time, who are you to just be sad for no reason?

Actually, you are totally within your rights to be sad for no reason.

It doesn't matter if you've had a charmed life and you're usually perfectly happy, you can still be sad for no reason.

It doesn't matter who on earth you are, you can still be sad for no reason.

If you're sad, you're sad.

It's as simple as that.

Lots of people don't understand that.

I've lost plenty, if not most of, my friends simply because I just get sad, but they always demanded a reason.

Sometimes I have them one.

Sometimes I just didn't say anything.

Eventually, I just left. Usually before they could leave me - some did leave first though.

If everyone could just understand that sometimes people are sad just because they're sad, then everyone would actually be a whole lot better in the long run.

There's an expectation to be happy when doing something you usually enjoy. But sometimes the things you enjoy just don't make you happy.

Why?

Because you're sad. That's it. You're just sad.

But there's always that expectation.

So you pretend.

You try to live up to that expectation, to make other people happy.

But you're not happy.

Maybe you'll be happy tomorrow, or next week, or even next year.

But no amount of people dumping their expectations on you is going to change that.

Sadness is like rain. Sometimes it's there, and it isn't. It just simply exists.
