Sebastian and his blue haired little servant boy stood at the door waving goodbye to the guests. Odd as it may seem it was Ciel who would miss them the most. He had gotten to know Murmur and Lilitu and Daniel and Amy and Alois. He even spoke to the twins more times then once. They spoke together, mostly, and asked questions in perfect rhythm. The servant spent his time wisely swapping between serving his Lord and Masters and Mistresses to being a shoulder to lean on. A friend to talk to. Alois has lightened up a little. He spoke more and more as time went on. To Ciel this was but an excellent thing... To his master however it was not. He would scold the boy for accidentally speaking out of turn. He would hit and abuse the poor child if he stuttered his speech or used the wrong word. The other servants, and nobles for that matter, watched in horror at the little boy being beaten. The servants couldn't do anything; it was out of term. The nobles dare not disobey there fathers orders. Ciel tried to make it up to Alois when he was on his own. He would feed him and give him milk and water to drink. He had even offered to wash his clothes but to no avail. The blonde haired little slave boy did not let anyone see body. Maybe it was shame or embarrassment but the marks that crossed his back, in a style where some rich human could mistake it for art work, did not make him any more likely to show anyone his skin.
Finally the last person had left, the brother whom Ciel, nor anyone for that matter, truly did not like, the brother who would lock himself in his room with the purple haired lady and make strange noises very late at night. The boy shuddered. He could only imagine. The purity that still lingered in the young child's brain was one that was astonishing. Sebastian beaconed his servant boy back into the house. Ciel cracked his knuckles against the door as he held it open for his master. Sebastian turned back to him. The boy clasped his hands. "I... I'm sorry master it was an accident I swear". The master chuckled.
"I do not mind it you know Ciel. Do it all you wish. Now follow me please" he took him to his office loosening his tie and jacket as he went. The little servant boy stood by the door when his master beaconed him over. "Ciel thank you. Thank you for everything this past couple of days". He looked at him with such a proud glimmer in his eye, one that if mistaken and took from a different perspective could look like the way a father would praise his child.
"Of course master. Thank you for allowing me stay up here and serve. It's been amazing" Ciel's hopeful eye sparkled as it did when he spoke of happiness.
"You certainly made an impression on my family I'll tell you that for one" the demon chuckled.
"Is that a good thing sir?" Ciel bit his lip afraid he had done wrong.
"A very good thing indeed Ciel. There was not a bad thing said about you from anyone. You made me proud. You spoke with such respect and grace to your superiors and even the servants you treated higher than yourself. You helped my youngest siblings to learn... to learn humans are not some uneducated, useless race with no real meaning and use except to serve" Sebastian bit his lip. What his father had said about humans had really stuck with him. Humans were a race with ambitions, dreams, hopes, expectations not just there to be the toys of the demons. Funny... That's what Sebastian used to think about humans. They were toys, playthings, used only for the entertainment of higher class beings. Now he had Ciel in his life... This boy who was close to death... Who was so needy... So pathetic in his time of need... So loving and caring to everyone and thing... So optimistic and happy about just being alive... He couldn't believe how lucky he had got.As the twins like to remind Ciel often; he was not the first. The demon had had three boys before, demon boys however. A contract cannot be broken. He would never go to the extremes of killing a child. He just couldn't but he had hurt them. A lot. He would toy with them, mess with there heads until there was nothing but an empty shell where a head would be. He would then throw them away before they could regain thoughts and feelings. To think about these memories now made the demon sick to his stomach. This feeling of utter self hate and annoyance resurfaced his memories as he saw the horrible condition the little blonde boy was being treated in. The marks that tattooed across the lads face and neck and arms and wrists and legs and probably everywhere else disgusted him. He wanted to tell his father to stop. He wanted to help the boy but he couldn't. He couldn't disobey his father... He had to sit back and let the abuse carry on. He felt awful.
"Sir are you... Feeling alright?" Ciel asked his soft little voice filled with worry.
"Yes Ciel. I am fine. Just thinking..." Sebastian looked down at his hand. His contract mark. The symbol that binds him to the brave little blue haired boy. This made him stronger. It made him a better person.
"If you don't mind me asking. About what sir?" Ciel asked still worried.
"My past Ciel in all honestly. The way I used to be. Before you. My father made me realise the error of my ways but it is far too late to change it now... Far too late" he sighed and stood up going to the window. "I was a bad man Ciel. I did awful things. Things that made me a monster..."
"But you're not a monster anymore" Ciel followed behind him.
"I am a monster. I sat back and watched how my father beat that poor blonde haired boy senseless. I didn't say anything. That makes me a monster".
"No sir. That makes you sensible. Alois is brave. Very brave. He'll survive. Your father would've hurt you if you'd have intervened. I don't want you to get hurt sir... Please.." Ciel looked up at his master a glimmer of a single tear pricking the corner of his eye.
"I won't get hurt Ciel. I'm brave though certainly not as brave as you are" Sebastian knelt to Ciel's height and wiped his tear from his eye.
"Oh no sir I am not brave... Not at all" Ciel said truly believing he wasn't. Sebastian chuckled sadly. "Oh Ciel if only you knew... If only you knew..."
