"Woah this place is huge!" The boy looked up at the building excitedly. Ciel was sat calmly on his knees watching how excitable the boy was. It made him happy to see that.
"As I have mentioned there are three other servants who live and work here every day. Can you remember their roles?"
"Yeah! Cook, maid, gardener" the freckled boy looked like he wasn't paying attention to anything Sebastian was saying but he had got every question right so far.
"You have a good memory I see."
"One of the only things I'm good at really..."
"You are clever"
"Can't exactly read or write all that well so I'm not that clever"
"Being clever doesn't mean that you can read and write you know. Cleverness comes in different ways, shapes and forms." Freckles turned at looked at Sebastian curiously.
"You're confused?" The demon asked.
"Nah not confused, intrigued is more the idea." The carriage came to a halt and Ciel opened the door for the both of them. "Ciel I have a few things I need to take care of. Take Freckles down to the kitchen and get him something to eat. You can take that off if you want" Sebastian put his hand over his eye. Usually when they are out in public or with the family he keeps the eyepatch on. The servant nodded and took the little boy by the hand.
"Come on let's get you some food. You seem starving." They both ran up to the house and Ciel opened the large door.
"Don't servants go around the back?"
"Huh? No, not in this house anyway. After you" he let the boy in before looking to his master who was stood by the carriage looking in a notebook. He was waiting for some kind of signal for him to go. Sebastian gave him nothing to go off not even looking up from his book so Ciel just gently closed the door and ran inside with Freckles. "Come on! I'll introduce you to the others. They're really nice. We'll also get you food you must be starving" Ciel rushed down to the kitchens and knocked on the door.
"Come on in Ciel. You don't 'ave to knock kiddo. You know that." Bard called him in. The loud voice frightened the little boy a bit and he stepped back but Ciel took his arm gently.
"It'll be okay." Ciel beaconedhim into the room and the three idiots were all sat down drinking mugs of tea.
"Who's your friend Ciel?" Mey asked.
"His name is Freckles. He might be starting to work with us soon!" He smiled happily walking in and sitting down. The freckled boy lingered by the door a little unsure.
"You can come in and sit with us you know" Finny smiled at him. It was such a sweet smile that he couldn't refuse. He slipped in beside Ciel and smiled awkwardly.
"Freckles this is Finny, Bard and Meyrin. They are the other servants for our Master."
"Nice to meet ya all" the brown haired boy looked down shyly.
"Are you hungry?" Ciel asked. Automatically Freckles shook his head but his stomach said otherwise.
"What's for dinner Bard?" Ciel looked at the cook.
"I thought I would try a dish from India" he smiled proud of himself.
"Curry?" Ciel asked.
"Yeah. You know it?"
"Yes an Indian prince once visited the queen and there was a celebration. My parents were invited and took me and my brother. It was wonderful" he smiled sadly.
"Sorry for bringing back the memories" Bard muttered.
"No no. Don't be silly. I'm happy I remember it. I wasn't sick. I'd just got over a large wave of sickness and was able to run around and play like my brother" Ciel leant over and pat cooks arm. "Thank you." The blue haired servant decided that it was time to change the subject so he turned to Freckles.
"So tell me about you" he smiled.
"There's not much to tell" Freckles looked down messing with the ends of his hair.
"I'm sure there is" Ciel smiled reassuringly.
"I dunno my birth name if I even 'ad one, I get called Freckles by everyone who's ever come across me" they went a little red.
"No surprises why" Finny giggled. The group talked for quite a while and Freckles relaxed telling them more and more about his life.
"Can I tell you something... I'm afraid it might change 'ow you see me" he said after a while.
"I'm not a demon... I've not always lived down 'ere I was brought down here by a man with one arm... I'm a 'uman ." He looked so afraid that he was going to be rejected by the group but they just smiled.
"We guessed you were a human Freckles, you don't have red eyes and the usual signs of a demon. No need to worry" Meyrin told him softly.
"We are humans too. All of us. Except the master of course" Ciel explained.
"Really?! But I've never come across another human before down here never mind four!"
"It's true. These four are some of the most skilled humans I've ever come across." Nobody had noticed their master stood leaning against the door. Freckles began to shake and hid his face afraid of a beating.
"Have you eaten Freckles?" Sebastian asked the boy softly.
"No sir... I ain't."
"Are you not hungry?" Sebastian walked over to the lad who was still shaking from head to toe. Poor thing.
"No" he bit his bottom lip and kept his head down.
"Ciel what would I usually say right now?" Sebastian looked at his servant to say it in a much more gentle way.
"Master doesn't like it when people lie. You don't need to lie about being hungry there's always going to be food available you just need to ask" the blue haired boy told the freckled lad.
"I'll be alright. I'm used to going without food. 'Onestly I am." Sebastian just shot a look at Ciel before he looked down at Freckles.
"Come with me. I need to speak to you about a few things." Freckles glanced at Ciel who smiled softly. The brown haired boy swallowed gently and stood up following the master. Ciel watched them go wanting to go with them for moral support but he knew it would be best to leave them to talk alone.
