A Contract From Hell

His Master, Flashback 2

Vapular had been Daniel's master for a year and seven months before Ciel arrived. For the first year Murmur still lived in the main estate but after a long winded boredom had struck him he decided to ask Vapular if he could move in. Of course he said yes, being a talented musician himself, Vapular enjoyed the company of his young brother and besides he had rooms that didn't allow much sound to come through. Perfect for late night practising. That's when the best ideas come out. Murmur moved in after the next few weeks, he knew that his older brother had a boy servant, he had seen him offhandedly in one place or another but really did not pay much mind to the strange looking boy with the white hair and violet eyes.

The first few days of the young masters arrival were hectic for all servants having to adapt to this new younger version of their lord. Daniels jobs however stayed relatively normal, he was more of a personal servant to the lord, too young to be a butler so more like a boy page. He had seen the new master, he was actually rather fascinated with him, he looks like the master in a way but much kinder. His face was softer and usually hidden in a book. One time Daniel was watching through the window looking at Amy, who was watering the flowers (their gardener had badly injured himself so she was helping in her free time), he had spoken to her quite a few times when the Lord and Lady had gone to the town together or they were 'conveniently' out in the gardens doing jobs at the same time. She was the loveliest person he had ever met, and that's saying something as he was an angel, he wished he could speak to her more. He really liked her. His mind started to wander but before long he was collided into. He knew he wasn't paying attention but everyone in the house was incredibly vigilant. Confused, Daniel turned to see the young Master staring at him. In shock and horror he apologised profusely.
"I'm so sorry my young lord, I wasn't concentrating. Please forgive me." Murmurs eyes lingered on Daniel longer than normal before he looked back at his book.
"You're forgiven. Brother always tells me not to read and walk." With that the young master walked off again, still with his nose in a book, this was the most interaction the angel had with his young master for a good few months. On an everyday bases Daniel would bring his master tea and then the young master some tea. The most interaction was.
"Good morning young lord."
"Good morning." Daniel would lay out his tea and Murmur would say "you are excused."

"Daniel you are to join me on a visit to my twin brothers' manor." This was the first thing that was said to him one morning after he brought up his Masters tea and said his usual cheery
"Good morning My Lord." It was a shock really. Daniel had accompanied Vapular on a few smaller journeys to neighbouring towns and whatnot but never to somewhere so important.
"Yes My Lord. Thank you for this opportunity" he bowed respectfully.
"You seem the most socially adapted to this particular situation. And besides I believe my sister is taking her young maid. It shall be an interesting experience for all." Daniels eyes slightly lit up at the idea of Amy going. Vapular was not a monster, yes he was a demon strong willed, intelligent, opinionated and he had a strong sense of species pride but the way that he has seen Daniel just stand at the window and look at the brown haired girl was something he had never seen before. The way he looked at her was not lust or hatred it was pure and sweet and innocent. He wasn't the only one to notice of course, a passing comment from Murmur really pushed Vapulars mind into taking the young boy with him. "Sister has a maid doesn't she?" He asked.
"Yes multiple actually."
"I mean one the same age as the boy."
"Give or take a few years."
"Brother I do not need your sarky comments. What I'm saying is he likes her."
"I beg your pardon."
"Oh please... don't tell you haven't seen him just stare at her. Why just this afternoon when I wasn't paying attention to the corridor all of a sudden I had collided with the lad who was so entranced by the girl he hadn't even sensed me coming." Vapular just nodded curious as to what the boy would continue with. "I mean it's usually the other away around. A demon is infatuated by an angel because the angel made it so but he wouldn't do that he's too nice. I always thought angels were evil but quite frankly he wouldn't even kill a fly." Murmur just continued on with himself, his nose still in the book. Murmur wasn't very talkative a lot of the time but he does have a tendency to go off on one sometimes. This really did shift the whole opinion into Daniels favour. Daniel was going to be visiting a masters house with Amy.
