His Master, Birthday part 2

The melancholy atmosphere was apparent as soon as the family members stepped into the house. There wasn't much talking and Ciel just stood by the door. He was in his new clothes, they were black and sleek. The inside of his jacket was lined in blue silk and he wore shiny black shoes. Meyrin was handing out drinks when she really tried she was actually very careful not at all clumsy. Finny was in the gardens and Bard was cooking food with the help of one of the triplets. The family didn't speak much just sat and drank. Ciel toed the floor in an almost uncomfortable nervousness. "Ciel" the boy snapped into life. "We got a new pool table didn't we the other day."
"Yes master."
"Why don't you go and show my younger siblings I'm sure they'd find it much more interesting than sitting here being unable to drink." Demon children could drink, alcohol didn't effect their bodies like it did humans but Lilitu was warned off it as it could mix badly with her medication and Murmur didn't like to drink before performances, he was going to be the main act of a royal show which he quite frankly didn't want to be a part of due to that rotten prince. Murmur broke the tense atmosphere. "That sounds fun. Come Lili. Let's go" he smiled weakly. He held out his hand for her and she took it. Ciel was almost waiting for them to ask him to take Amy and Daniel too but he didn't think that would happen. Amy was knelt beside her mistresses chair twisting her hair around her finger looking down, her back was slightly hunched over and she was looking unwell. Daniel stood beside his Master his hands clasped behind his back. He looked out straight in front of him but when he thought no one was looking his eyes would flash to his friend. They'd been separated almost a week. It was torture on both parts. "Follow me please" Ciel held the door open for the siblings who silently walked down the corridor. "Is everything alright?" He asked as he stopped by the games room.
"Yes"
"No"
"Oh?" He asked confused.
"It's nothing"
"You can speak to me. I will listen." The siblings took a deep breath, looked at each other a moment before Lilitu piped up.
"Ciel can I ask you something"
"Yes of course" he opened the door letting them in.
"You're an orphan right?" That caused the boy to freeze up. Not those memories. Not now.
"Yes. I am"
"Tell me about your parents." Why now? Why today of all days?
"They were nobles. My father was known as the Queens Guard Dog. My mother was very pretty. They were very kind, sociable people, my mother had a sister, my aunt."
"They sound wonderful. I'm sorry for your loss" she looked to her brother.
"I guess you've noticed by now we only have our father. Our mother died after childbirth. The reason the atmosphere is so melancholy is because well... today was the day the damn reaper took her from us."
"Today was the day she passed?" Ciel asked a shock in his voice.
"You sound puzzled."
"Today is the four year anniversary of my parents death. December 14th."
"I'm so sorry Ciel. I didn't know. We shouldn't have even said anything. Why didn't Sebastian tell us?" Amy put her hand on the boys shoulder.
"I knew you were all going to be here today and so well erm I well didn't want to dampen the mood. So I didn't mention it. It never came up either" the boy said quietly and shyly.
"Oh you poor thing. Going through this all on your own" Amy hugged him tightly to his own surprise but then he hugged back.
"It's not so bad" the boy smiled softly. "Honestly. Today is..." the bell rang and he turned to the door.
"Please excuse me" and he ran off before he could tell her that today was also his birthday.
"Ciel!" She called after him but he had already disappeared through the corridors.

The little boy saw Finny outside in the garden happily chatting away to one of the triplets. He was always so full of joy. It made Ciel happy. He knocked on the main door and waited for the come in. It sounded and he stepped in. "Ciel good. Take Amy down to the kitchens. Pour her a glass from the green bottle." Sebastian told him. He nodded. Amy shakily got up and went over to him. He held out his arm for her and she gripped it. Ciel looked over at Daniel and his eyes flashed to his Master in a desperate bid for him to let him come. A loud sigh could be heard from Vapular. "Daniel go with them. Escort Amy carefully" with no hesitation the boy went over to the girl. Ciel held the door open as the two walked out together. Amy gripped tightly to Daniel. It had been so long since they had been so close. Daniel held her tightly and securely. "I've missed you" he whispered quietly. Amy give him a weak but genuine smile.
"I've missed you too."
