*Jax's Pov*
The early morning always amazed me; whether it was the changing colors of the sky, turning from dark to night or the fact that everything seems to awaken due to these changes. The past few months I've been so used to waking up in the early morning, today was no different. My body must have been on a schedule since I found myself waking up at the same time I had to be awake for training.
Not wanting to waste the early morning coolness, I decided to go for a jog since even if we have the day off I felt as though we should at least do something to be active. When I got back it was still pretty early but I knew my younger siblings would be awake soon enough. I took advantage of the open bathroom and quickly showered. I changed into something light, not knowing what I had to do today.
I exited the bathroom and made my way down to the kitchen to make some breakfast for the family. Oliver must have been out since I don't think he was anywhere else. He must have been out for a run as well. Speak of the devil and he shall appear (out of nowhere, no less).
I was whisking the batter to make pancakes when I felt a jab on either side of my torso causing me to yelp and squirm out of the way of the tortuous hands of none other than Oliver Cooper. I shot him a glare over my shoulder and continued to mix the stupid batter. Great I was now taking my anger out on inanimate objects, thanks so much Oliver.
"Aww, don't get too angry, babe. You should never let your guard down," he said near my ear causing shivers to race down my spine. I did my best to contain the shiver and succeeded. I tried my hardest to resist him but honestly it wasn't getting easier as this attraction grows stronger.
He quickly moved away to get something to drink from the fridge allowing me to breath properly again. I never really like that pet name but I had a feeling Oliver wouldn't call someone babe unless he was joking so I didn't take the name to heart.
I heard the front door open and close then heard footsteps running up the stairs. I looked over my shoulder at Oliver who was about to pour orange juice in a glass. He shrugged his shoulders also not knowing what just happened. The footsteps soon returned to the stairs but this time coming down with the sound of a girl's giggles; neither my mom nor my aunt giggle.
"Hey guys, just gonna borrow Kailee. Okay, see ya bye!" I heard before the front door open and close once more. I looked at Oliver once more to see if he understood the events that just unfolded. He shrugged his shoulders again with a look that says 'I don't know, don't ask me' before pouring another glass of orange juice. The fact that his brother, Jackson was here so early to get Kailee was a little suspicious but I knew he would keep her safe. For the past few months they have actually gotten along with one another. Their usual banter and 'arguments' became the 'norm' and what they did, almost like an old married couple. You knew it was never out of anger, but out of playfulness.
I continued making breakfast until I heard more shuffling coming from upstairs signaling that either my parents were awake or my aunt and uncle possibly Max as well. Turns out it was just my mom and my aunt, Ashley. They quickly made their way over to the coffee pot I didn't even know was on or had coffee going and made themselves a cup of coffee.
I plated the pancakes that were finished cooking and set them on the island counter behind me. Oliver had already set out plates, forks and knives even with the syrup and butter (and cinnamon for those who sprinkled it on top). I guess I didn't even pay attention to him since, I mean come on, he was a big distraction, it's a miracle I didn't burn the pancakes.
