For the last month Connie's contact with Sam had increased. Back and fourth they sent messages with one another as they slowly slipped back into their old patterns. She was unsure if the games they were playing really meant anything to either of them, but there was no doubt in his mind that it was what he wanted.

Connie was finishing up on her shift heading for her office. Pushing the door open she was greeted by the sight of Sam sitting at her desk. "I think you're lost-" He looked about the room before glancing to her. "Nope, definitely where I planned on being right now." An arched eyebrow made him lean back in her chair further becoming comfortable.

"If you know what's good for you, I'd suggest you get out of my seat right now." "And if I don't?" Connie pushed her tongue into her cheek trying desperately not to give him what he wanted. Instead she moved around him getting the things she wanted. When behind the chair out of sight a thought came to her.

Taking a step closer she put her hands to the top of the chair tilting it forwards sending Sam flying onto the floor. Spinning it around she quickly sat down before he had an opportunity to sit back on it. "Like I said, you should have moved." Sam shook his head going to reach for the chair except Connie had anticipated his move.

As he reached forwards she lifted a leg placing her heel to his chest. Sam sat still watching her, his eyes running up from her heel and over her body. She looked good, incredibly so. "You know when I said I missed you? Well I'm starting to regret that statement-" "Too late, can't take it back." She sat smugly and in control until he placed his hand on her thigh sitting up slightly.

Within a flash he was knelt before her, neither moving their eyes from the other. "Sam-" "For once in your life shut up." "Excuse me!?" Connie looked at him in disgust before his lips were on hers. When he parted from her he looked to her face for some sort of sign as to how she was feeling but could see nothing.

Connie's head was spinning as her stomach turned at the instant lose of contact. She shouldn't want this, but in all honesty it was all she had been thinking about for the last three months. Reaching a hand forward in a heated frenzy their lips crashed together again desperately.

Sam's hands ran up her thighs as hers ran up into the back of his hair. The kiss was desperate as the built up tension disappeared. There was a knock at the door causing them to pull away from each other, Sam ducking down under the desk as she pulled her chair forwards hiding him from view.

"Come in!" Hansen wandered inside leaving Connie to groan internally at his presence. "Ah Henrik, what can I possibly do for you that couldn't have been done through an email?" He smiled standing just inside the door way as he noticed the flush to her cheeks. "I came to see if you had those files ready for me?"

Connie began to rummage through the things on her desk before feeling Sam's warm breath against her leg. She took a slow breath continuing, focusing on remaining as professional as she could with someone hidden under her desk. "Here... Is that all?" Sam listened to everything said before placing his finger tips to her leg slightly.

He felt her tense before trailing them up and down repeatedly. Connie coughed as she kicked her leg out before crossing them again. Sam flinched away from her remaining quiet until he left. As soon as the door closed he released a sigh as Connie pushed her chair back with a glare. "What?" Sam could do nothing but laugh as he made his way out from underneath the table.

"You know full bloody well what Sam." "Oh please you played a part in this as much as I did." She rolled her eyes as he stood beside her, almost as though the kiss they'd shared moments ago had been forgotten by her. "Connie?" "What do you want Sam?" "Really? You're going to pretend like that didn't just happen."

Pushing her chair back she stood up face to face with him. "Like what didn't happen?" She looked to him once more before stepping around him. Sam caught her wrist in his turning her around as their eyes caught each others gaze again. Lifting a hand to her cheek he moved close enough to kiss her again.

As his lips were almost against hers she spoke quietly. "I can't do this..." He stopped what he was doing but didn't move away from her. "Course you can Connie-" He moved his lips to hers gently as she kissed him before pushing a hand to his chest. "I really can't." He laughed looking at her causing her to shrug. "What's so funny?" "Nothing. Let me take you to dinner?"

She shook her head immediately not wanting to encourage this. "No-" "Why?" "Because..." He frowned as she tried to remain serious. "Because..." He waited for some sort of explanation but seemed to be receiving none. He could have sworn he saw something pass through her eyes before it disappeared again. "Because, we shouldn't do this-" "Tough, it's a little late for that don't you think... Say three years too late?"

Connie pushed his chest as he caught her hand again. "I came back for you, I'm not about to let you push me away again." She felt her chest becoming tighter again as she let go of a breath. "Fine. You can take me to dinner, but I'm choosing where we go." "Fine. I'll pick you up Saturday at eight."

Sam smirked as Connie picked her stethoscope up from her desk removing herself from the office without another word. He grabbed his jacket before leaving her office and walking out of the ED. Connie had stopped at the nurses' station and watched him leave the hospital not noticing Charlie beside her.

"Nobody's behind that smile, right?" She dropped her eyes sighing as she picked up some files. "Drop it Charlie." He laughed as she moved away from him as he watched her knowingly. Connie couldn't stop herself thinking about the kiss they'd shared for the rest of the evening. She didn't know what this was, lust maybe? Either way she wanted it and she was going to make sure she got whatever it was.
