Christmas was a week away and Connie couldn't wait for it to be over. "Sam you sing one more Christmas song to me and I will personally make sure you're needing more than Christmas spirit this week." He smirked continuing to hum along with the radio until Grace ran into the room.
"Mummy!" "Grace!" She laughed jumping onto the sofa beside her. "Have you heard the song where it goes da, da, da-da-da-da, da, ling ling." Connie frowned shaking her head as Grace continued humming the tune of a song. "Sweetheart I have no idea what you're on about." "Daddy showed me it."
Connie turned her eyes onto Sam who was laughing in the kitchen as he leant over the counter. "Sweetheart I think you mean this one..." Turning the tablet around to Grace she laughed with a nod. "This one Mummy, see..." She hummed along once again before Connie placed a hand over her mouth to conceal her laughter. "Ling ling-" "No not ling ling sweetheart, ding ding." Grace listened to the song before her expression changed. "Ohhhh..."
Glaring up at Sam he held his hands up in surrender. "In my defence I didn't think she would walk around singing it for days after." "You're dead." Grace soon skipped off out of the room again, still humming the song. "Why, of all the possible songs you could show my five year old daughter do you decide to show her that!?"
Sam laughed from the kitchen as Connie relaxed back into the sofa, picking up the control. Switching through the channels she stopped on a chart of top movie soundtracks. "God you're boring-" "God you're annoying." Sam fell down over the arm of the sofa beside her, resting his head in her lap.
Connie looked down to him with an arched eyebrow before they became comfortable. "Did Belle go down alright?" "Fine, she has to be the easiest child in the world." Sam smirked as he rest a hand beneath his head. "You think you'll be okay to go out tomorrow night?" Connie nodded with a smile. "I think tomorrow is just what I need, then we have Christmas and then we can maybe think about our wedding..."
Sam sat up and twisted to face her. "Con-" "The day I crashed... I'd been out seeing someone about dates." He watched her with a small smile as she shrugged gently. "Guess I shouldn't have bothered-" "Connie..." She looked to him as he placed a hand to her cheek. "Did you agree on something?" She laughed dropping her eyes to the space between them. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you-" "When?"
Connie rolled her eyes as he ran his thumb across her hand. "New years day-" "As in, two weeks?" She nodded but shrugged it off again. "It doesn't matter, at the time I just wanted to marry you and be able to do it as soon as we could." Sam was quiet for a moment before looking back up to her. "Let's do it then."
She scoffed shaking her head as he looked to her with determination. "Sam you're insane-" "Why am I? I don't need anyone but you there." She dropped her eyes shaking her head before looking back to him. "What about all your family, friends... I can't expect you to not have a wedding, the party, the big day-" "Who said anything about not having a party?"
Connie laughed as Sam placed his hands either side of her cheeks. "Let's do it Connie. I want to marry you, I'd do it tomorrow if I could." She smiled looking across the sofa at him as he grinned. "You're crazy-" "Find yourself a dress, and leave everything else to me." "Please tell me you are joking."
Sam shook his head as Connie stared in disbelief. "We could get married, the two of us. Have the girls there, Elliot and Charlie, obviously. Then we celebrate in the evening, invite all the staff, make the most of the evening." Connie sighed shaking her head once again. "Con if it's what you want-" "I thought it was..."
He frowned sitting forwards, closing the space between them. "But, after the crash I realised that I don't want to rush anything with you... I don't ever want to be getting married again after you so I want to make the most of this. I want the big fairy tale wedding, I want all the fuss and hassle that goes along with it. I want the stupid songs that you and Grace sing to wind me up, everything... I want to marry you properly with everyone there. I want everyone to know that I plan on spending the rest of my life with you."
Sam smiled as she leant into his chest, his arm draping around her. "Then I guess you best make another appointment to find out when we can do it." Connie nodded as she cuddled into him further. "I love this song..." She turned it up as it played, Sam moving from behind her as he held his hands out to her. "What?" "Well you need to learn how to dance, I'm not being embarrassed by you."
Connie laughed shaking her head as she took his hands. "Unless you've forgotten, I was the one making sure you could dance, remember?" He laughed spinning her around carefully before pulling her into his chest. "I could see us dancing to this song on our big day you know..." She smiled wrapping her arms around him as he encased her gently. As the song changed he smirked. "Or this one even-" "Sam, everyone in the film practically died." He laughed turning it up as he spun her around dancing with her still.
"Near, far, wherever you are..." "Stop singing, please-" "I believe the heart does go on." Rolling her eyes she felt him pull her back to his chest as she shook her head. "We are not having our first dance to this song-" "Why not? Come on, it could work." Sam watched as she separated from him sitting down on the sofa. "No."
He smirked wandering off into the kitchen as she tucked her legs up onto the sofa smiling to herself hearing him from the kitchen still. As the music picked up once again he walked back into the living room. "Don't." "You're here, there's nothing I fear... And I know, that my heart will go on... We'll stay, forever this way. You are safe in my heart and, my heart will go on and on."
With an arched brow she couldn't hide the smirk as he sang loud enough for people to hear an entire street away. "If I agree to this song will you stop singing?" He laughed shaking his head. "We don't have to, besides I think your choice was alright." "Alright?" Sam smirked shrugging. "Well I mean it's no Titanic, but I suppose you are right that everyone dies... Maybe not the thought I'd like when marrying you." Connie's laughter bought a new smile to his face as he kissed her gently. "I love you Mrs Strachan-to-be." "I guess I love you too Mr Strachan."
