i stood by the gate Grayson would soon walk through.

my heart was racing, my body trembling.

containing my excitement was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.

it's been nine months without him

I stayed at home, worrying if he was gonna come back.

there were nights when I lay in bed thinking of the worst that could happen.

and now I didn't have to do that anymore.

my mom stood behind me recording this one of a kind moment.

I stood there jumping up and down, biting my lip.

my stomach did flips with every person that walked out.

my heart dropped and a smile crept across my face.

and then I saw him. his tan combat boots, making a small thud on the ground with every step he took. his uniform, with "Dolan" written across the pocket.

as he came closer, he spotted me and I ran towards him. he spread his arms out, waiting for me to jump into them.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and wrapped my legs around his torso.

"hi grace" he chuckled, dropping his bags and wrapping his arms around me.

"hi baby" i sobbed, snuggling my face into his neck.

i lifted my head up and gently placed my lips on his.

"I missed you" he says, twirling us around

I ran my hands through his hair and kissed along his jawline.

"woah grace, we're in public" he jokes.

I let out a soft laugh,"I missed you so much" I whispered in his ear.

"believe me I missed you more I had my whole camp saying we were goals."

I laugh and he sets me on the ground,kissing my forehead.

"now let's get home and catch  up" he winks, and then looks over to my mom, blushing.

my mom rolls her eyes, giving him a nod of approval.

Grayson chuckled and looked down at me, pecking my lips

"don't ever leave again" I say, interlocking our hands.

"I won't" he says, bringing the back of my hand up to his lips, placing a soft kiss on my hand, sending shivers down my spine.

this is for grace because both of our dads were in the military and if you can't tell Grayson was coming home from the military :,)
