Chapter 24: Misery Begins

I tried to think about everything Frisk told me. Chara and Sans were once best friends. And of all people.. Me. I ruin a friendship. Why? Why did I have to do that? I hardly knew Chara existed back then. How could I be so ignorant? Now not only me but Sans as well, was going to suffer. I'm so horrible. Fuck me. Fuck me to the moon and back.

I didn't want to talk to Chara anymore. She'd never listen and even if she did, there's no telling what she'd do. I hated waiting for Chara. Every second that passed was agony. Never ending agony.

We heard the door open and then slam shut. A familiar voice echoes through the room, "Frisk. I gotta tell you. I'm about ready just to snap the damn girl's ne-"

She stopped at the entrance to the living room. Her eyes were glue to me. Her blank face quickly turned to sour one, "You."

I gupled as I slowly stood up and smiled nervously, "H-Hey Chara." I really wanted to be nice and reason with her. Now that I knew everything, I really wanted to make things right.

"Chara, Y/n just wishes to speak with you. Please listen to her," Frisk said, staying completely calm. I'm glad someone is calm. She's probably the only one who could ever be calm when Chara is in the room.

Chara bared her teeth and slowly walked towards a chair on the other side of the room. She slowly sat down, gripping the arm rests tightly.

"Fine, but make it quick."

I took a deep breath and slowly began to approach her, "Chara.. I want to apologize. For everything. I had no idea that you and Sans were best friends. I didn't mean to get in between you two."

Chara's gaze went from me to Frisk. She gritted her teeth angriy and gripped the arm rests so tightly that her knuckles began to turn white, "You told her?"

"Chara. She would've found out eventually-"

"No! She wouldn't have! Sans is too much of an ass to even think about what ever was between us! His mind is too focused on her!"

This was already a terrible idea.

"Chara.. Calm down."

"Give me a reason!" She yelled and then looked to me, "And you have no right to apologize. You should've done that when it mattered! Now.. Well.. Now is the worst time you could be apologizing." She stood up and to my surprise, she had grown a few inches. She was now taller than me by.. A lot.

"Now I'm going to warn you. The competition after this upcoming one is the finals. That will decide the winner. It won't be me. I know that for a fact, but I want you to know that the day you win, is the day your misery begins."

"M-My... M-Misery?"

Chara growled, "You better ready yourself Iris because I know a certain person. She is going to help me and you can't do anything about it."

"Chara.. What do you mean? What are you gonna do?!" I was growing extremely worried, but then Chara pulled something out behind her back.

It was a book. The title was One Last Dance.
