~~~Barry's POV~~~
So how does a superhero get ready for a date? Same as everybody else.
My room was a mess as I was trying to dress for me and Holly's dinner date. I changed from fancy, to casual, back to fancy, and so forth. Finally I dressed in a white shirt, a dress vest and a tie. I went down to Joe to get his opinion on the outfit. I zoomed down and he gave a thumbs up but I shook my head no and zoomed back up to change. I kept the tie and white shirt but exchanged the vest for a blazer.
Everyone tells you to just be yourself. But who is that really?
"If you change one more time, I'm gonna shoot you," Joe said when I zoomed back down. I sighed and shook my head and headed out. I ran past a flower stand and grabbed a flower putting a five in the womans hand.
I arrived at Holly's apartment just as she was heading out. She was wearing a nice gray dress that had ruffles on the top and some white heels. Her hair was half up and curled. She looked beautiful. The gray definitely brought out more blue out of her hazel eyes.
"Hey, punctual," she said with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah, that is what my friends call me: Mr. Punctual," I laughed shaking my head.
"Is that lonely-looking flower for me?" she asked,
" Is this dumb? I thought about getting a full bouquet, but then I thought that was weird," I said quickly.
"No. It's perfect," she said taking it.
"All right," I smiled.
I offered her my arm and she took it as we walked down to the Mexican restaurant.
I pulled her chair and helped her in her seat and then I sat down, she had put the flower in her hair and our waiter came and we ordered water.
"What are you going to get?" she asked me and I looked at my menu, "Have you ever tried their tacos, they are the spiciest in Central City," she smiled at me and I raised my eyebrow.
"Really?"
"Really!"
"Hmm... How about we both try them then and see who can handle them more?"
"Fine, but you're going to lose this time Allen."
"I doubt that."
We ordered the tacos and while we waited we talked about normal stuff.
When the food arrived Holly smiled at me, convinced that she was going to win this.
We dug in and I had to admit they were pretty spicy, like a lot. We got through one taco and we started on the second. By this time my mouth felt like it was on fire. I looked at my drink and gave up taking a big gulp.
"Yes! Victory," she said pointing at me with a huge smile on her face, "I told you these were the spiciest tacos in Central City."
"Oh, I thought you were bluffing," I said wiping my burning mouth, I couldn't believe she could handle this.
"I never bluff," she laughed, "Just say it, I am the champion of all things spicy."
"You are the spice champion of Central City."
"Well, this requires soap and water," she said getting up to wash her hands, "I'll be right back."
"Mm-hmm," I mumbled as I took another big gulp of my water.
Suddenly my phone rang and I saw it was Cisco.
"Hey," I said.
"Robbery at the convenience store on Brand and Paulson," he said.
