Chapter 1: Seatmate
[Changkyun's POV]
The bus I rode for school arrived earlier than I expected. The school isn't that big but is well-known for its good quality of instruction. I transferred here 3 days ago, after the third week prior from the school's opening for the first semester.
The processing of papers took 2 days because the director won't allow me to be admitted since the classes already started and the registration for late enrollees had already ended. After some adjustments and talks with my mother, the director changed his mind later on. The director told me that I have a lot of lessons that I need to catch up that I had missed in which agreed to do so. I spent the remaining day roaming around our neighborhood, trying to familiarize myself with our new place.
I entered the school with my head down, trying my best not to catch attention but the clothes I'm wearing now says the other. Everyone in the school is wearing the prescribed uniform and here I am, wearing a gray hoodie paired with black skinny jeans and black high-cut sneakers. I can feel their eyes prying on me, beaming with questions on who's that hooded-student walking in the middle of the school grounds.
"Hey! Watch yourself!"
The disgruntled man startled me. We we're inches from hitting each other but was halted when he roared out his anger. I was preoccupied with thoughts of how can I escape here to the teacher's lounge quickly that's why I didn't see him coming towards me.
"I'm sorry it's my fau—"
I tried to apologize to him but he just walked past through me, our shoulders bumping each other instead. The collision was so hard that I fell down on the ground.
Tsk...
I picked myself up and brushed away the dirt that got stuck to my jeans and hoodie. I pulled the hoodie up to see who the guy is but he was nowhere to be found.

"Okay class. We have a new student who'll be joining our class for the whole semester. I know it's really weird for our school to be accepting transferees this late but I guess he got something under his sleeves."
I heard Mr. Yoo laugh inside the classroom. I met him at the teacher's lounge earlier since the director asked me to look for him on my first day here in school. He turns out to be the adviser of the class I'll be joining for the whole semester.
"Mr. Im, please come in." Mr. Yoo called out.
I gathered every ounce of courage I have and took some deep breaths before I entered the room. I could feel my heart race, blood rushing to my head, making my ears go red.
This feeling...
I stood there in front of the class, all eyes on me. The silence made me feel awkward but thanks to Mr. Yoo for saving me.
"Mr. Im, please introduce yourself to the class." Mr. Yoo smiled at me, gesturing his hand that I need to face the class when I speak.
My shaky legs wanted to drop down, but I have to endure everything.
"H-Hello everyone. I'm Im Changkyun. Its nice meeting every—" I hardly introduced myself, but I was cut off when someone suddenly entered the class.
"Good morning."
His cold voice enveloped the room with an awkward silence. Some of them were trying their best not to laugh and the others were just in awe. Everyone turned their gazes to the guy that walked in, boastfulness emanating from his body. He made his way to his seat but stopped halfway there. He turned around and glared at me with his dead eyes.
What now?
I just froze there in front. The class turned their gazes back to me, curiosity painted on their faces. The guy responsible for this eyed me from head to toe before he spoke.
"Clumsy."
What?
The guy continued to his seat and slumped himself there. The class didn't know what to react after. Mr. Yoo broke the silence that filled the class and told me to do my introductions again. I did what he said and the whole class started applauding after.
"You can occupy the empty seat beside Mr. Shin." Mr. Yoo smiled.
I don't know who 'Mr. Shin' is so I gave him a puzzled look. He just smiled and pointed the back part of the class. I looked to where his hand pointed. I could feel that the heavens aren't with me today.
Seriously?
I thanked Mr. Yoo before I went to my assigned seat, beside the guy that came earlier. The class had already started but my seatmate didn't even budged. I placed my bag under the table, trying my best not to disturb him. I sat there comfortably. I took out my notebook and started scribbling the notes the teacher wrote on the board.
"Hoseok."
I was startled when my seatmate spoke. I didn't noticed he got up. He was staring at me.
"Shin Hoseok. My name."
