Extra 01: Between You And Me

This one shot is inspired by a song entitled "Between You And Me (마주보며 서 있어)" by the my first group, INFINITE, from Woollim. I used Wonho (Shin Hoseok) and Changkyun (Im Changkyun), members from the group Monsta X from Starship as the characters for this story. This one shot is actually aligned from my first work, Save Me (you know if they decided to break up just in case, this is the chapter I made). Of course, I highly recommend that you listen or at least read the English translation of the song.

"Let's meet."

Those were the words that kept on flashing every time Wonho looks at his phone while waiting for the person that sent the message earlier this morning. He sat there at one of the park's benches, looking at every person that passed by, thinking that it would be him anytime. To his dismay, none of them were him. He just stared at the clear, blue sky as he remembered all of the wonderful things the two of them shared for years, which made his eyes grew sore and tear up for a bit.

"Let's meet."

Wonho imagined the other's face how he would it look like when he typed those words. Was he angry? Was he crying? Wonho doesn't know which would be. But he knew only one thing. He knew that he did and said a lot of things to the other which made it cry every time. He knew all of it and he knew that he was wrong. Wonho was so busy of thinking about those things he had done while looking at the lovely couple from afar. "They're so sweet..." Wonho thought to himself, feeling envious of how the couple showed their love for each other by holding hands and exchanging meaningful looks. They seemed to be enjoying each other's company, which made Wonho envy them even more when the both of them smiled and laughed at each other's action. They seldom happen to the both of them these past few weeks. All they did was fight through the phone, spitting harsh words at each other which will hurt them both.

"Let's meet."

Those words kept circling inside Wonho's head which made him feel cold on the insides. It was a bright, sunny day but the coldness brought by the autumn breeze seemed to beat the heat made by the glorious sun. Wonho felt himself shivered at the sudden blow of air behind him even though his palms were sweating. He brought his hands together and rubbed them hastily, the friction between his palms produced heat which he placed on his freezing cheeks.

"Let's meet."

It kept on circling inside his head, this time it echoed together with the other's voice. Wonho looked at the far end part of the park and saw a familiar figure slowly approaching his place. He felt his heart race with every step the other took as it closed the distance between them. His heart raced not because of love, but because of the things that may happen anytime right now. It was one of his biggest fears and that it's getting clearer now: breaking up with the one he loved with all of his life, Changkyun. The thought of it already made his world crumble into pieces once again, like it was before he met the other. "Is it really the end? Can we never fix again?" Wonho questioned himself even though he knew what would be the answer. It's really the end and they can never fix it again.

"Let's meet."

Because we'll never meet again after this.

"Hey."

Changkyun stood in front of Wonho, their eyes were both focused at the ground. Wonho was thinking of words he wanted to say but none of them seemed to come out of his mouth. Wonho stood up straight, his height overgrowing of that of Changkyun's. Wonho moved his hand hesitantly to hold the other's hand but he wasn't surprised to how the other would react. Changkyun pulled his hand back, refusing the other's desire to hold his hands. Wonho felt beat and he knew that this was it. The end.
