Chapter 8: Heart's Cry
[Wonho's POV]
I fell asleep again. I think I skipped the whole class hours.
"Hey."
Someone shrugged me from the side. Recognizing the voice of the one who spoke, it was my seatmate, Changkyun.
"Hey." I answered back.
"Everyone's gone."
I looked around the class and it was true. The only ones left inside the room were the both of us and Mr. Yoo who's arranging his things on the table.
"Aren't you guys going home now?" Mr. Yoo asked us after he finished packing up to leave.
I stood up and stretched out. I reached for my bag, so did Changkyun. After so, we all left the room together.
-
"I'll leave first now. I still need to cook. Take care of yourselves on your way home." Mr. Yoo said as he dashed to his car that was parked at the school's parking lot beside our building.
The two of us fell silent as we walked our way outside the school.
"U-Uhh. About our project."
The person walking with me, at least a foot far from me, started the conversation.
"What about it?" I said, coolly.
"C-Can I get your number so we can be in touch? I'd like to talk about our project."
My heart was filled with excitement at his words.
"Sure."
I dictated him my number. We were at the school's gate when he kept his phone. We stopped there for a moment, he played with the pebble he found on the ground with his feet.
"Where do you live?"
He flinched when I asked him.
"N-Not so far from here. I just need to take a bus there." he said as he pointed at the bus stop two streets away from the school.
"Can I walk you there?"
Those came out without me realizing it. It came out like something inside me urged me to say it.
"S-Sure." he answered back shyly.
We took a left turn from the school's gate. The path towards the bus stop was too narrow which closed the distance between us as we walked.
"S-So what about you? Where's your home?"
He asked, staring at the ground as we walked. I sighed before I answered.
"I don't have a home."
He held his head up to look at me. We already crossed the first street.
"I-I mean your house." he asked again.
"It doesn't matter." I answered.
Both of us fell silent again. The only thing that I can hear was the abnormal beating of my heart that was already there when he first asked me about my number.
"Yes it does."
He looked at me in the eyes, the light coming from the passing cars made it twinkle. His let out a small smile.
That smile again...
We didn't realize that we finally arrived there at the bus stop. We sat at the bench dedicated for the waiting passengers that will take the bus, far from each other.
I want to do these things every day...
He took out the earphones from his bag and his phone from his pocket. He plugged the earphones on his phone. I saw his phone lit up, it was a message I guess.
The scent of his hair lingered in the air as he walked which smelled so sweet. His eyes were colored like the clear, night sky, which sparkles every time a car passes. His thin lips are red as cherries. Every part of his face, I wish it would be mine.
I want you to be mine.
I didn't realize I was staring at him for long. The bus finally arrived. He stood up and prepared himself. He waved his goodbye to me, as I did too. He rode the bus, my eyes followed every move he made. After he stepped inside, the doors closed and the bus left. I didn't take my eyes away from the bus until it was far away.
I'm happy...
I walked back to where we came from, taking path back to the school since our house is at the opposite way.
-
It was already 10 o'clock in the evening when I arrived home. I dashed to my room after I closed the front door to rest. I slumped myself on my bed before I took out my phone. There were two unread messages which came in yesterday. I didn't have the time to read it yesterday since I was really tired. I opened the messages.
[New Message: Dad
I'm sorry Wonho. I'll be there on Sunday.]
*delete*
[New Message: Dad
I'm getting all my stuff. I'm leaving the house. We'll just provide you of what you need. I'm sorry.]
*delete*
Silence enveloped the room. I just laid there on my bed, staring at the ceiling. The tears made its way out. I was holding it in but I wasn't able to held it in for long. I picked myself up to a sitting position, my hands placed above my thighs, ready to dig my nails in. I just let the tears flow out and slide down to my cheeks. I'm readying myself to embrace the pain when my phone suddenly vibrated. I wiped my tears dry and opened the message that came in. It was from an unknown number.
[New Message: Unknown Number
Thank you. :) –Changkyun]
I stared at the message, I didn't realize that more tears came out.
Changkyun...
The images of Changkyun's smiling face flashed before my eyes.
Changkyun...
I repeated calling his name in my mind.
Changkyun...
More tears flowed out and all thoughts of harming myself were pushed away.
"Changkyun..." I whispered his name.
I stared at the message on my phone once again. All I could think about is Changkyun.
Changkyun... Save me...
-
A/N: I didn't mean to make you cry (if you did). Please don't curse me. I was listening to Taeyang's 'Eyes, Nose, Lips' while writing this. Thank you for waiting and reading. :D
