Chapter 20: Haven Part 1

[Changkyun's POV]

After Mr. Yoo dismissed the class, I got my bag and rushed outside the room quickly.

"Changkyun!"

I heard Wonho shouted before I was fully out of the room. I ran as fast as I can to get home.

I don't feel safe here anymore.

The note I received from whoever that 'M' person is, it made me remember about my past again.

"Eeew. Gross."

"You're disgusting, seriously."

"I don't want to be your friend anymore."

"Don't go near him."

The images of my classmates and friends before from my previous school came back, spitting harsh words at me. They spat words, words that really hurt me inside.

I never wanted any of those things.

It's all coming back again. Those things that I ran away from, chasing me back. I ran as fast as I could to get home, to get into my room, my haven.

"—kyun!"

I could hear someone shouting my name but I didn't look back. I just wanted to get home now.

"Changkyun!"

He'll be like them in time.

Wonho was about to cross the street when I looked at him.

He'll be.

"Changkyun."

He stood there, a few steps away from me. I know he could see my face that gotten wet from the sweat and tears that fell down my cheeks.

"Chang—"

"Don't come closer!"

I hissed at him. He flinched and stopped there for moment. He took a step closer.

"Changkyun!"

The next I knew is that he closed me in an embrace. I squirmed off him, trying to get away from his hold.

"Let go of me!" I said, my voice cracked between the tears.

"Changkyun."

I started to push him away from me. I know I'm hurting him but I need to save myself.

He'll be like them.

"Changkyun. What's the matter?"

He said, trying to hold my arms so I'd stop.

"You'll be l-like them anyway!"

I know he'll be after he knows about my past.

He hugged me, tighter than ever.

"No I won't, Changkyun."

I could feel his body tense up but he's trying to compose himself as he said those words.

"I won't hurt you, Changkyun. I promise you that."

I stopped fighting him after I heard those comforting words. I never knew I got so tired from putting up a fight against him. I buried my face on his chest, the scent his body gave off made me calm.

"I will never, ever do that to you, Changkyun."

I broke down in his arms. I cried harder than before.
