Chapter 4: Merging Worlds Part 1

[Wonho's POV]

I arrived at school early today. The headache hadn't left yet but it doesn't hurt that much like before. I sat at the campus bench, staring at the green leaves of the trees across the bench. The morning breeze soothed my aching chest, the fresh air hugging my lungs as I breathed in comfortably. My body felt light that I almost fell asleep but some weird person entered the school shooed away the tired feeling inside me.

Who's he?

I glued my eyes to the gray-hooded person that walked around the campus with his head down. I almost shouted at him when someone was about to bump him but I kept it to myself. I just continued to observe him.

Hmm-mmm...

I laughed silently to myself when he fell down. He looked clumsy with the way he fell. The hooded guy glanced back at the person he got bumped to, which I had a chance to get a look at his face. When he got up, he walked briskly towards the administration building. I followed him with my sight until I can longer see him. I roamed around the school for a bit longer even after the bell rang. I was planning on going to class late anyway. There's no reason to it, I just want to.

-

After some good time walking around the campus for like half an hour, I decided to go to our class finally. As I stood outside the door to our classroom, I heard Mr. Yoo introduce someone in front of the class.

A transfer...

When the transfer student started introducing himself, I walked inside the class, cutting his introduction on purpose.

"Good morning." I greeted the class as I walked in.

Everyone's eyes are on me, even the student in front who did his introductions halfway. I just walked to my seat confidently, not minding the reactions of my fellow classmates since they all knew me as a weird and quiet person. When I was halfway there, I looked back at the student in front.

It's him...

"Clumsy." I blurted out.

I was holding on to it for a while now when I saw him from the door. I finally voiced it out. I continued walking to my seat and slumped myself there, still feeling a little tired. I rested my head down on my desk before I heard him speaking again.

"H-Hello again e-everyone. I-I'm Im Changkyun. Its nice m-meeting everyone. I hope we can all be friends."

He seemed to be a bit nervous introducing himself. The next thing I heard made me smile.

"You can occupy the empty seat beside Mr. Shin." Mr. Yoo told Changkyun.

It took long before I heard footsteps approaching the aisle I'm seated. I had my head down so probably he assumed that I'm asleep with the way he moved the chair carefully. The class started making noise, a sign that Mr. Yoo had left the class. I just sensed everything he did beside me. He fixed his bag and sat properly.

Should I introduce myself?

I had thoughts fighting inside my head whether should I introduce myself or not. A little later, the class quieted down. The subject teacher just arrived and started having her lectures. I don't usually participate in class, but I do listen to them with my head down.

Yes. Introduce myself.

I finally made up my mind. I heard him shuffle his bag. I guess he took out something there and placed it on his table. After a while I heard some scribblings on his desk.

He's writing.

I thought this was the best time for me to introduce myself. I gathered every courage I have and held my head high. I stared at him without him noticing.

The glow on his face seemed so inviting that I wanted to touch it so suddenly and caress his seemingly soft skin. He looked like an angel.

"Hoseok." I blurted out.

He was surprised when I suddenly spoke to him. I said it coldly just to know what would be his first reaction. His eyes were wide open in which I find cute.

What the hell did I just said?

He seemed confused with things that just happened which is evident on his face.

"Shin Hoseok. My name." I repeated.

I just stared at him, waiting for his reaction. He nodded and held a hand out for a handshake.

"I'm Im Changkyun. Nice to meet you."

He introduced himself properly this time, only to me. He flashed a smile after.

*tug-tug... tug-tug... tug-tug...*

I left his hand hanging, not receiving his handshake. I just slumped back and held my head back on my desk. He just continued writing whatever was written on the board.

*tug-tug... tug-tug... tug-tug...*

I could feel my face burn red as the blood rushed to my face. It went all the way back to my ears, which I wished he won't notice. I could feel my heart race, which never happened before in my life. It's the first time I felt this kind of feeling. I can't think of words to describe what I felt but one thing is I'm sure of, it feels so warm and great. I want to feel it again.

*bzzzzt-bzzzzt*

My phone vibrated, it was a message, but I didn't bother to get it from my pocket.

*bzzzzt-bzzzzt*

Another message came in. I can't read it right now. I'm still busy recalling what his face looked like when smiled at me.

His smile...

I smiled at the thought of him, smiling like that every day. If it'd have been a movie, I would never get tired of watching it all over again. I wanted him to smile like that again at me.

*tug-tug... tug-tug... tug-tug...*

I was on the edge of ending my life today when I get home and then something hit me. If I die today, then I won't be able to see him smile again. I won't be able to see him again. I won't be able hear his sweet voice again. The thought of that already killed me inside.

His face...

His skin...

His smile...

Now, I finally had a reason to live.
