Darcy's Point Of View

I now found myself in the confines of my mortal enemy's prior lover's fortress after being dragged by a rope to my ankles at the back of Marcus' truck, from where Luke's goons had dumped me.

I nervously watched his red eyes stare back into my brown ones as he inched forward at a painfully slow pace.

"I have a proposal for you." his voice masculine, rough and sharp-edged causing a lump to form in my throat.

A few seconds passed as I conjured the courage to talk to him. "And what might that be?" I questioned in an attempt to sound cocky and succeeding as my facade stood tall.

But a dark malicious chuckle escaping him had me doubting myself.

"Help me get Alexandria back and I'll give that mutt to you. With a bow on top of the doggybag I plan on dumping him in." he said with a dark tone that showed no shortcuts.

"How about no?" I sighed as I smiled down at my leather boots and shuffled them before crossing my legs.

"What. Did. You. Say?" He hissed in his stride towards me in a split second before grabbing a hold of my neck.

"I said no! I won't do it." I voiced sternly, watching as my facade started cracking by the look in his eyes.

"Alright then. I won't touch your precious Alpha. You can have him. But the girl is mine." he sighed before retracting his hands and rubbing them over the length of his face.

"That's more like it sweetie." I chirped as I attempted to walk past him but a grip on my arm had me snapping my head back to meet his gaze head on.

"One more thing..." he grinned causing me to raise and eyebrow "You're under my command now, Rogue." His words speaking to a more feral side within me.

My skin started burning as it stretched into a new form. My claws extracted along with my canines. My bones cracking and realigning into a newer, less familiar and larger beast than I've grown accustomed to. My vision turned red and only one thing started running through my mind. Blood.

I panted as the walls of the room we were in seemed to grow smaller and as a person who hated small spaces, I felt like I was being suffocated.

I scratched at my skin, desperately trying to get rid of the way it seemed to squeeze me tightly in a primitive way.

Suddenly a rawr crawled its way up my throat as my pants grew louder.

No.

No!

I cannot become the Rogue beast he wants me to be!

I may have been corrupted and slightly not right in the head but becoming a Rogue wasn't a thing I planned on doing.

Dying was a better option than being Rogue. Because Rogue meant being robbed of ones soul doomed to lead a life where the thirst cannot be quenched and the people you loved were not just the blood in your veins, they became the blood on your hands.

And even though I loved my mother.

She wasn't who I loved most...

She wasn't my salvation.

She wasn't the Alpha that took me in, accepted my flaws, forgave my mistakes and gave me a home.

Luke was.

Vulcan was a brother.

Vesta was a sister.

Tuttugu, Lewis, Mary-Anne, Peter and the rest of them were my family and I let them down.

All because of pride, ego and jealousy.

Something I now regret doing.

Realization and regret came too late as Marcus chucked a mirror towards me and it shattered on the floor, a hidious beast looking back at me as I stared into the shards before me.

Why Darcy?

Why?

How could you do this to your family?

"The same way you did it to your sister." the primitive beast I stared at, grinned back at me.

No!

No!

I banged against the walls of its mind, the monster locking me away causing me to whimper.

Somebody help me!

"No one can hear you. You've hurt them enough. Nobody cares anymore..." the beast cackled.

You're a liar!

Somebody please!

"Enough!" the beast roared making me retreat into the deepest and darkest corner of our mind.

"From now on you will do my bidding and in return I will spare your Alpha. That is a promise." Marcus' voice interrupting the one sided war my newly found beast had created.

I didn't want to destroy Luke's life, I just wanted him to be happy with me.

I thought he was the one.

But as I sat whimpering in the darkness, I then realized just how selfish and wrong I was.

For The Goddess had written his future umong the stars and constellations long before we both even existed... His other half was no one other than Lexi and nothing I said or did could ever change that. Not even Time could change it.

I thought back to a boy in my High School.

He told me the most beautiful tale of the way The Goddess worked.

He said that She created us all in pieces, like a puzzle and that that puzzle consisted of only two pieces, but for some She created more than one other piece.

She created two or even three and you might think the first one is the perfect fit, but sometimes the sparks and the internal flutter of butterflies are a lie. Even if they are a lie, it doesn't mean that there isn't another piece just around the bend thats little nooks and crannies won't scratch and bruise you.

You just have to look well enough.

If only I did go looking for my piece instead of trying to steal someone else's.

Imagine how happy I could have been with my piece. My mate. My soulbound eternal love.

My beast laughed at my thoughts "You're so pathetic. How can you even still believe in shit like that?"

It is written upon the blood cells in my veins. It is written in my DNA. It is burnt into my soul.

AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU CORRUPT ME, NOTHING CAN MAKE ME STOP BELIEVING!

"Oh really? Watch me." her voice was daring me.

Scaring me.

And then the door broke open and she destroyed everyone in her path.

"Someone please... Release me from this misery." I breathed.
