Chapter 6

Tuesday, August 19th 6:30am
Lauren went through her morning routine like usual: Workout, shower, eat, school. Once she to school her usual crowd was waiting for her. She went through her first two periods like usual, only today she was there physically but she wasn't there mentally. She was caught up in her thoughts, she was putting words together in her head and writing them down as they came. Josh and Anne didn't know what to make of her semi-absent state. She decided to sit in her third period classroom during lunch after stopping in the music room to borrow a guitar. Luckily for her Ms. Cabello doesn't come to class until the last minute. She absentmindedly hummed along to her strumming, nodding her head when she felt the lyrics and the melody worked good together.

People started piling in after lunch and Lauren had already sat in her seat still concentrating on all the lyrics that continued to circulate in her brain. Camila came in on time and the first person her eyes landed on was the green eyed girl who seemed to be consuming her thoughts lately. She couldn't help but notice that she wasn't mentally present at the moment and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't at least slightly worried.

Lauren went through the lesson without uttering a word, she only stayed focus long enough to finish her work then she was back to her absent state. She was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't realize that Calum and Ashton were trying to get her attention until one of them tapped her on the hand "Huh?" Calum gave her a worried expression "Laur, where are you right now bud?" "I'm thinking." Was all she managed to utter before zoning back out "Umm what exactly are you thinking about that's got you so detached from the world? it's kinda scary honestly." "Lyrics." She grabbed the guitar and sat on top of her desk, this caught Camila's attention "What do you guys think about this?" She started to strum lightly and people turned to see what the sound was. Once they realized that Lauren was about to sing, they all gave her their undivided attention.

As soon as she finished the whole class was cheering and whistling and Camila couldn't keep her jaw from dropping. "Wow Laur that was sick!!" Calum states excitedly "Yeah! Is that why you've been in your own little world all day?" Ashton asked astonished at how she just put all that together in a few hours. Lauren chuckled "Yeah, the words were just flowing through me and I had to get them out. Granted it still needs work but so far it's ok, right?" She questioned unsure "Yes Laur, it's amazing!" Everyone started cheering in agreement and giving the girl high fives and compliments.

After class Lauren informed Ms. Cabello of the arrangements she needed to make with her due to how most Volleyball games are scheduled. Ms. Cabello was jumping with joy on the inside at the prospect of spending alone time with Lauren. She agreed to stay after the day before early release games and wrote it off as 'wanting to see her students succeed' which was true but in this case it was more for the private time to get to know the green-eyed beauty that fascinated her.
