Chapter 16 [Excuse me, who?!]

Sunday, August 31st 9am
Camila woke up feeling pretty good, there was still a shred of her that felt like she had been punched in the chest. She decided to just push the last events of her night to the back of her mind because she knew she didn't have a right to be jealous but she couldn't help it, so she opted to just forget. She sat up and stretched her limbs before checking her phone. She had a few messages from Lauren and she couldn't help but smile.

Did you leave or did you just go to the bathroom or something?

I guess you left, why? I looked for you I wanted to talk to you before you did. 

Camila couldn't help but smile at the fact that Lauren was thinking about her and actually wanted to talk to her, but she decided not to answer. She's my student, I have to stop this. Why do I even feel this way? It's not like I have any chance with her in that way. I've gotta clear my head. Just as that thought crossed her mind, her phone buzzed, It was one of her best friends.

Hey Chancho, Let's hang out today! 

It was like her prayers had been answered and now her best friend Dinah could serve as her distraction. She told Dinah to pick her up in thirty minutes and went to get ready.

They were sitting in Ihop waiting for there food, "Why isn't Mani here?" Camila asked, wondering why her other best friend didn't join them. "Normani had to work this morning, but she should be off at twelve and she'll join us then." Camila nodded as there food was placed in front of them. Camila and Dinah caught up, Camila told Dinah about her new job while Dinah mostly talked about her new boyfriend, Samson. She could feel her thoughts going back to the green-eyed beauty and at first she smiled but then she thought about Josh and shook her head, pushing the  thoughts away once again.

They had went to hang out at Normani's house, "Hey guys! Come in, I'm almost ready." Normani went to finish getting ready while Dinah and Camila sat on the couch. " So Mila, is there anyone you've got your eyes on?" Camila's heartbeat picked up a little bit, for some reason she felt like immediately Dinah knew everything. "Uhh, no- kind of? I don't know.." Dinah gave her a quizzical look "My goodness Chanch you act like I asked you have you pleasured yourself lately. Calm down, do you have your eye on someone or not?" Dinah questioned chuckling at her best friend's  behavior "Umm, y-yeah." Dinah waited for Camila to give her more but she didn't so Dinah did "Chanch, a name. Give me a name, seriously what's up with you?" Camila hasn't mentioned that she's into girls as well as guys to her best friends not that she didn't think they would accept her it just never came up because she's never really dated. "I-" "Im ready, what are you guys talking about?" Normani interrupted sitting in the arm chair diagonal from her other friends. Dinah continued to look at Camila while answering Normani "Mila here has her eyes on someone and I'm waiting for her to tell me who it is. Go ahead." Camila played her fingers "Well umm- Lauren, her name is Lauren." Her best friends chuckled "Is that why you were nervous to tell me, because it's a she? You know I don't care what you prefer, I support you either way." A small smile played on the petite brunettes face "Yeah, I know." Dinah couldn't figure out why her friend was acting so weird if she knew she wouldn't judge her "Then why are you acting so weird? It's not like she's a student, loosen up!" Camila went stiff but immediately tried to act normal hoping her friends wouldn't notice, but of course her luck wasn't present during this conversation. Both of her friend's eyes went wide and she looked at her lap "OH MY GOSH MILA! Seriously a student?" Normani shouted standing up, but Dinah surprisingly kept her cool "Mani chill, Chanch tell me about her." Camila was taken aback by Dinah's calmness but she appreciated it "Ok. Well she's a senior, She's the lead singer of the band 'The Wanting' and they're really good by the way, I went to their concert last night. I have her number, we text everyday but there's nothing going on between us. I'm pretty sure she doesn't like me like that, plus she has a boyfriend so.." Camila let her sentence fall off because she had nothing else to say. "Alright I was actually expecting things to be worse, but at least she's a senior which makes her legal. Do you have a picture of her?" Dinah asked and Normani moved closer to see the girl her friend was in to. "I don't, but I follow her band. They have pictures on there, give me a sec." She pulled up 'The Wanting'  Instagram page and handed her phone to her friends "Wow she's hot Mils, I see why you like her. Her eyes are like.. My goodness and you say she can sing? Show us!" She then went to YouTube and showed them one of their music videos. "Yep, we need to meet her, like asap!" Camila chuckled at her friends excitement to meet the girl she was pining over. "I'll see what I can do but, just don't get your hopes up." "Whatever let's go, it's gonna be soon." They left and went and did some shopping and then went back to Normani's place to have a movie marathon before heading home.
