Chapter 2

Lauren's POV

Monday, August 10th
I woke up and completed my morning routine, before heading down to breakfast. I rushed off to school soon after so that I could hang out with my best friends and my boyfriend before class. I spotted my friends and boyfriend as soon as I parked my car, they were sitting on the stairs laughing at who knows what. I made my way over to them and as soon as they spotted me I was bombarded with hugs from all of them, the last being my boyfriend. "Hey babe, how was your summer?" He questioned intertwining our fingers "It was a little hectic, but none the less good. You?" I returned with a genuine smile "Not as hectic as yours and not as great without you, but still good." He replied before placing a gentle kiss on my lips which I smiled into because I missed the feeling. I then turned my attention to my friends "I missed you guys loads!" I made a sad face "Well if you didn't drown yourself in all those camps then you wouldn't have to miss us." Calum hissed seeming upset about the fact that we didn't get to hang out that much. "Low blow Hood, low blow." Anne replied before Ashton chimed in "Ignore him Laur, you know how he is about missing his close friends. Anyway Anne's been working on lining up some shows for us, so we need to get together to discuss that stuff soon." I nodded my head in agreement. We talked about how we thought senior year was going to go and our schedules. I was happy to hear that I had first period with my three best friends, I had second period with Anne and Josh, I had third period with Calum and Ashton, and for my final period A and B day it was just Ashton and I. The bell rang signaling it was time to head to first period. Josh walked me to class with my best friends in tow behind us. We kissed and had a short conversation before Josh had to head to class. Anne and I sat in front of Calum and Ashton since we had separate desks which were in rows. Our teacher hadn't arrived yet so we talked for a bit "So does anybody know who this Ms. Cabello is?" Asked Ashton "I heard she just got out of college or something and graduated top of her class which is why she was hired right off the bat." Answered Calum "I hope she's super hot so I'll at least wanna pay attention in class." Ashton replied and before anyone else could say anything our teacher finally walked in causing all conversation to cease. "Good morning class, sorry I'm late. They had us in some bull crap meeting. Anyway let's start by taking roll shall we." Class went by in a breeze and before I knew it I was in Earth and Environmental Honors with Anne and Josh. We were in the class with a bunch of freshman and a few other seniors who were smart enough to take the harder sciences first and taking the easier one now as well.

Anne, Josh and I walked to lunch together to meet with the guys. Lunch flew by in laughter and joy. Josh walked me to class as usual with Calum and Ashton walking ahead of us. He placed a soft kiss on my lips once we reached my class. "I'll see you after class babe." He whispered while his lips still lingered over mine. I walked into the class and spotted my guy friends and luckily the desks were in groups of four, so of course we sat together. I was texting Josh on my phone while the boys were rambling on about something that didn't interest me. "Good afternoon class." Greets a raspy feminine voice, I looked up and the teacher and I made brief eye contact.

Ms. Cabello the new teacher walked into class her eyes glancing over the students "Good afternoon class" she greeted while still scanning the room until her eyes landed on the most gorgeous girl she had ever laid eyes on. There eyes met briefly and Camila couldn't catch her breath after seeing the most vivid color of emerald ever. Lauren had already returned her attention to her phone while Camila found herself staring but snapped out of it, feeling a couple pair of eyes staring at her, which happened to be Ashton and Calum. Once Camila had turned her attention elsewhere, the guys exchanged an astounded look before Ashton commented. "Is it just me or is the hot new teacher checking Lauren out?" They quickly glanced back at the teacher whose eyes would land on Lauren every few seconds. "She totally was, I saw it too." Calum agreed with a smug grin on his face. Lauren wasn't paying the guys much attention but she did very faintly hear what they were saying.

No sweetheart that's all you! I just hate that we both have such busy schedule. We didn't get to see each other this summer bc of all the sports camps we had to attend. On top of that there is only a week before sports start up.

" Is it just me or is the hot new teacher checking Lauren out?" I heard Calum comment but I paid him no attention. Ashton then agreed "She totally was, I saw it too." I glanced at them before looking back at my phone "Whatever guys I couldn't care less." My phone buzzed and I was reading the message when Calum whisper shouted "What?! You couldn't care less that the hottest teacher on school grounds, who doesn't appear to be much older than us, is checking you out? You're kidding?" Who the heck cares, really.

Nah babe, we decided to get settled in for the first two weeks of school, then we'll be going back @ it.

"Alright. Sorry it took me so long to get situated. I'm Ms.Cabello. I'm going to spare you the first day lingo that Im sure you hear every year." While the teacher talked her eyes barely ever left mine but whatever it doesn't matter either way. She continued to speak "So very simple day today, I'm going to take attendance and then pass out the class syllabus, but while I'm doing that I would like you guys to open up your books and read pages 237 through 244, then answer the questions on 245. It's due at the end of class, so get started." There it is again the pretty blatant staring, ahh whatever it's not important. "Uhh Ms.Cabello? Can we work in groups or does this have to be done alone?" Some blonde hair boy asked "Why the heck not, go for it." She' seems like a cool teacher , let's hope that continues. I started reading the pages assigned until I heard my name being called. I look up meeting Ms.Cabello's gaze before answering "The one and only." I stated confidently she gave me a quick smile which I mimicked before continuing to read.

The boys and I had finished the work in about ten minutes but didn't feel like getting up to turn it in so we decided to wait until class ends. "So Laur, have you been working on any more songs?" Calum asked "Actually yeah it's taking a little longer to finish than usual though, I'm trying to give it a different sound." I responded "Oh, what kind of style?" Ashton questioned curiously "Ehh I'm testing out a reggae jazz-ish, pop type of feel." "Sounds legit Lauren, I can't wait to hear it!" Replies Calum while Ashton nodded in agreement.

The bell rang signaling the end of class. Josh walked in and put his hand out to help me up, I accepted with no hesitation. He also took my bag to carry it for me, I couldn't help but smile at the sweet gestures. I walked over to Ms. Cabello and placed my paper oh desk before walking towards the door "Wait Miss Jauregui you forgot to put your name on here" I turned back around and scribbled my name on the paper, I could feel my teacher's eyes on me while I did so before walking out.

Weightlifting class was a breeze for me especially since that was a part of every camp I attended during the summer. I did a few sets of core and a few sets of bench press before going in the locker room and taking a quick shower.

Josh followed me home so I could drop off my car and we headed to get some food and watch a movie. He paid for everything because he obviously knows how to treat a woman.
