I try to fight the urge to squirm around as the two teen girls scrutinize me. Their eyes flick from me to Skai who is playing with Miles, then back towards me. I haven't felt this nervous since I was meeting with the Dean of Yale.
"Uncle Kenny she doesn't look much older then us" the oldest one, Yara, says turning to Mr. Edmonds making me frown. I know I'm short but come on. "I'm actually twenty" I speak up. "Which means she is a adult that you both will listen too" he says glaring at the two. China throws her hands up in surrender "hey don't look at me she got my vote to stay" she says and I breath out a sigh of relief.
"Good and I'm going to assume Miles is okay with this" he says and we all turn to look at Miles who is playing with Skai. "How do he know you two anyway?" He asks and I explain to them what happened at the park. "Sounds like something he would do" Yara says "I guess it's a yes from me too."
I inwardly do a happy dance because I really needed this job. "Thank you I want let y'all down" I say before going to the refrigerator and grabbing Skai's cup out of the fridge. "Oh I had got her some fries and chicken nuggets I didn't know what she liked and I got you the same thing I got, I hope that is okay" he says as he grabs the bag out of the microwave.
I turn around from the fridge and bump right into him "I am so sorry I didn't see you" I chuckle because he scared me. "It's fine I didn't mean to scare you" he says. I look into his eyes noticing for the first time how close we are. "Hey your not wearing your glasses" he says. "Yeah I was getting a little headache from them, I think I need to go see a eye doctor about that..." I ramble getting lost in his eyes.
A throat clears behind us making me jump. "Sorry to interrupt the moment love birds, but Toni, Skai is trying to eat her fingers" Yara says with a identical smirk on her face to China's as they stare at us. "Um thanks" I say with a blush before taking the bag out of Mr. Edmonds hands "thank you this is perfect" I say before moving quickly towards Skai and away from the awkwardness that just took place.
After a few minutes of silence past Mr. Edmonds speaks out. "So since you guys have school tomorrow-" "ain't God good!" China exlaims interrupting him. I laugh before Skai grabs my hand that has the warm nugget and guides it to her mouth. "As I was saying before China found Jesus, since you guys do not have school tomorrow how about we all do something together, outside of this house, so we can all get to know Toni better and so she can get to know you all better" he suggests.
"That's fine with me, we can go shopping and bound over shoes" Yara suggests. "Yeah the new Huaraches just came out they are so cute, it's like paint was splashed on the edges" she says excitedly. "Or we can go to the beach!" Miles says happily in his sit.
Mr. Edmonds looks towards me and I shrug because I really don't know I just moved here, I don't know nothing about this city. "Okay how about this, we go shopping in the morning, then we go to the beach around 2, and after that we can go to the fair" he suggests and the kids cheer and Skai being hee typical self, cheers too even though she has no idea what's going on.
"That okay with you T?" He asks. I look down as tears cloud my eyes. The only person who called me that was Joelle and it just just reminded me of how I got here. "You okay?" He asks. "Yeah...it sounds good to me" I say quietly. I hear small snires from Skai so I excuse myself so I can go and lay her down.
After about ten minutes I go back downstairs to see the kitchen empty except Mr. Edmonds who is wiping down the island. "Oh I could have did that, it's a part of my job right?" I ask. He turns to face me "no it's fine I just want you to worry about the kids and yourself" he says. "But you need to finish eating" he says pointing to my not even half eaten meal "your going to need your energy dealing with these kids" he finishes. I chuckle and sit in the high chair swinging my feet.
"So why did you decide to move to LA?" He asks making me chock on the fry that I was eating. He quickly comes over and pats my back. "You okay?" He asks rubbing my back as I stop coughing. I nod drinking some of the grape soda he got me. "Yeah, I'm fine" I say in embarrassment, I stay making a fool out of myself.
He nods before removing his hand making me frown "so why did you move here?" He asks again. I take a bite of my burger to save time before answering carefully "I just wanted a change" I say vaguely. He nods "you got any family besides Skai?" I shake my head because I don't according to my mother. "No just us two" I say.
I guess he decided to lay off the question for now because he doesn't say anything else for awhile. After eating in silence with him on the lap top besides me he turns towards me. "You sleepy?" He asks. I stare at him strangely and shake my head. He smiles before grabbing my hand and I quickly grab the baby monitor before he drags me downstairs to the library.
I watch as he pushes the bookcase that is a secret door and we walk inside to the swimming pool. "You up for a swim?" He asks. I look down at my clothes before looking at him "umm I'm not exactly dressed for swimming" I remind him pointing to my clothes. He laughs before pulling off his shirt revealing a beautifully sculpted, chocolate chest that almost makes me melt. "Um what are you doing?" I ask.
He ignores me pulling down his pants so that he is only left in a pair of black boxers and he steps towards me making me take a step back. "Do you trust me?" He asks. "I don't know you?" I reply slowly. "But do you trust me?" He asks again with a smile. I pause a moment before nodding yes.
He slowly takes the monitor out of my hand and place it in the chair before tugging me towards him. I look at him unsure before I feel his hands at the hem of my shirt. "Wh-" "shh, we just swimming" he says before I feel my shirt being pulled gently off me. He never breaks eye contact and kneels to take off my shoes and socks before his hands move up towards my hips and onto the waistband of my tights. He pulls them down slowly before lefting up each of my feet to take them completely off.
He stands up not once looking down at my half naked body making me feel safer then ever. He then turns and dives into the water before surfacing. "You coming?" He asks. I look down at the pool shyly "I can't swim" I say and he smiles. He pats the edge of the pool motioning for me to come over which I did. "I can help you" he says before holding out a hand.
I hesitantly take it and he pulls me in the surprisingly warm water. His arms circles around my waist as he tugs me to him and I wrap my arms around his neck and cuddle his neck as my legs wrap around his waist. He walks around with me like this for minutes, hours. I don't know but I wished this could last forever and I could forget that the last time I was this close to a men was when he drove himself to pleasure inside me before throwing cash at me.
"You okay?" He asks and I nod snapping back to the present. "This is just...nice I guess, I've never done this with anyone before, just relax like this it's weird though because you are my boss" I say with a frown. "We can be more then that...friends" he say. I lean back to look into his eyes "I would like that" I whisper and lay back on his shoulders letting the warm water relax me more.
"Me too..." He whispers in my ear.
