Chapter Thirty One

Kai is busy enjoying the time with his friends, Chen, Xiumin, Suho, Tao and Kris when the door opens and they were all shocked to see Chanyeol with Baekhyun. "Ohooo. Who is this cutie?" Chen asks as he approaches Baekhyun who seems to be surprised by the sudden speech. Chen is drunk and he is like this to everyone, good thing Xiumin moves him away. But before Chen gets dragged away, Chanyeol holds Baekhyun's arm, pulling him closer. "He's.. mine"

Kai almost spat the beer on his mouth, he seriously doesn't understand the situation because hours ago he found Baekhyun telling him to stay away from Chanyeol now they're together? And since when did Baekhyun turn gay? He couldn't contain his confusion so he rushed to his friend.

Baekhyun was so surprised that he looked at Chanyeol as well. As if he's waiting for the latter to say "I'm kidding" but it didn't happen. But what confuses Baekhyun is that, this is not what they talked about back in the car.

"I'm going to propose you something" Chanyeol says with his deep voice. Baekhyun nods and listens attentively. "I told you to stay by my side right? And we both know that you need to distract yourself from Taeyeon.. So I want you to be literally beside me. 24/7"

Baekhyun was surprised, "but I can't do that.. My family.." Chanyeol sighs, "I'll talk to them" Baekhyun shakes his head, "no, you don't understand. I can't leave my family." Chanyeol sighs again, this time he seems more irritated. Chanyeol hates it when his plans doesn't work out. "Baekhyun you're a college student for God's sake. You'll leave that place sooner or later"

Baekhyun shakes his head. "I'm sorry Chanyeol. As much as I wanted to distract myself, I'm not going to leave my family. I've lost enough people in my life already.." Chanyeol's frown disappeared, as if he realizes something he did. "Oh.. Sorry. I didn't mean it that way"

The later nods and smiles, "it's okay.. I just can't leave without them and I tend to do things I can't remember" Chanyeol pauses again, as if he remembered something important. "Like what?" Baekhyun looks away, "I tend to break things especially when I'm drunk that's why I don't drink and I tend to forget a lot of things, it'll be troublesome and.. I just can't leave my mom and sister"

Chanyeol nods, "I understand.."

Baekhyun's train of thoughts were disturbed when he felt someone grab his arm from Chanyeol. He was surprised to see Kai. "Kai" he mumbles while his friend looked so confused and worried.

"What's happening? Why are you in a relationship with him??" Kai almost shouts when they reached a far end corner but he seems to be keeping his composure. Baekhyun frustratedly ruffles his hair, "I don't know! I.. Really don't" Kai holds his arm, "then take it back.. Don't go into a relationship with Chanyeol" this time, Baekhyun was able to calm down, "h-huh? Why?"

Kai was the one who gets surprised by his friend's sudden question. "What do you mean why? Dude, you're a guy" Baekhyun bit his lip and looks down, that's when Kai slowly moves his hand away. Baekhyun looks up and sees how Kai reacts, how disappointed and shocked he looks. "No. It's not that.. I.. I'm not gay okay" Kai doesn't look like he believes him. "Baekhyun.."

Baekhyun laughs, "God no. I swear" Kai still doesn't buy it but he holds his friend's shoulder once more. "You can't fall for him okay? He's different, he doesn't care about people and the only one he cares about is Kyungsoo." Baekhyun's smile faded.
