Chapter Thirty Five

"What happened to him?" Chen asks, Kai took a deep breath. "His mom was rushed to the hospital today.. I heard from Eunji that she was diagnosed with cancer"

Before they could react, Chanyeol stood up and rushed out. Suho lightly smiles while Kai was surprised. He is not used to seeing Chanyeol react like this since he knows that the only person Chanyeol cares is Kyungsoo.

Chanyeol doesn't really know what he's thinking, he just wants to see Baekhyun. He wants to make sure that the small puppy is not depressed or Taehyung will be back again. He drove as fast as he can, he was in a rush that he only paused when he realized that he didn't know which hospital, in that moment, his phone beeped and Suho messaged him the location.

He was surprised at how Suho knew but this isn't really the right time to react so he continued driving, hoping that Baekhyun is still in one piece.

Baekhyun couldn't help but cry, he tries his best not to show Eunji this so he hides near the entrance door. He couldn't understand why such thing would happen to them, especially to his mother.

For Baekhyun, his mother is the strongest person he knows. He was still young when his parents got divorced.

It was on his 5th grade, Baekhyun is excited to go home because he got the highest score in their exam. Eunji was still in 2nd grade, so she doesn't remember anything. They were happily walking inside the gate of their house when they heard a loud crash.

Eunji held her brother's hand in fear while Baekhyun doesn't know what to react. "Oppa, is there a burglar in our house?" She asks, Baekhyun turns to her, he lightly smiles. "It's going to be okay Eunji. I'm here, just hold my hand okay?" Eunji nodded, the two of them continued to walk as the sound of plates crashing continued.

When they opened the door, Baekhyun was so surprised at the scene, his mom was on the floor with the broken pieces of the plates while his father is about to throw another one at her. Her body is full of blood as well as the floor. Baekhyun was frozen on the spot that he forgot about Eunji who shouts at the terrifying scene. Their parents looked at them, Baekhyun expected his father to calm down but he didn't. Instead, he rushed to them, grabbed Eunji's hand and threw her to her mother.

"Stop! Leave them out of this" Mrs Byun shouts as she tries to calm Eunji who is crying. Mr Byun is about to get a knife when Baekhyun finally got his courage and pushed him away. Mr Byun got so angry that he was supposed to stab Baekhyun but Mrs Byun covered and was the one stabbed instead. Baekhyun lost consciousness and never knew what happened next.

When he wakes up, their family was far way and they never had the chance to know what happened to their father.

Baekhyun loved his mother dearly because despite all the things that happened to them, she never cried nor complained about their father. She continued to give them a good image about him which Baekhyun never really understood why. Mrs Byun acted like the incident never happened and so he and Eunji went on with the flow.

Baekhyun was lost in his thoughts that he didn't realize that someone is already hugging him. He looks up and was surprised to see Chanyeol. "C-Chanyeol..."

"Sh.. don't say anything... just.. cry it out" Chanyeol answered in a low tone.
