Chapter Thirty Nine

Baekhyun is deep in his thought as he walks back to his mom's room. The idea of his mom having cancer is still not sinking in, adding to the fact that Chanyeol has announced to everyone that he owns Baekhyun.

Baekhyun holds his head in confusion, he isn't used to this weird feeling inside him that he is not sure if he wants to wake up from this reality or stay. When he opens the door, he saw Eunji reading her textbook. "Eunji, you should go to school now" he says and sits beside her. Eunji smiles, "I'll go tomorrow oppa. I.. I can't leave mom alone too" Baekhyun ruffles her hair, "but she isn't alone, I'm here and Luhan too" Eunji then hugs him, an act that surprises Baekhyun.

"You are not alone in this oppa. I understand everything, don't act as if I'm just a child. You can depend on me as well"

He could feel his eye form tears but he tries his best not to and hugs her back. He knows that Eunji is a strong girl just like him, they got it from their mom. She taught them that even in worst times, they should think positively. "Thank you, Eunji. There's one thing I need from you" Eunji looks at him in curiosity.

"I need you to be okay, to study hard and I'll do the rest" Eunji smiles, "okay"

Sehun decides to go to school later in the afternoon. Luhan and Baekhyun were left since Eunji volunteered to cook for their dinner. Luhan holds Baekhyun's hand as they watched Mrs Byun sleep. She still hasn't woken up and her state is still not okay.

"Luhan, why is Baekhyun's life like this?" Luhan turns to Taehyung who looks depressed. The latter sighs, "I honestly don't know. I mean, I know he's a strong kid but sometimes I don't understand why these misunfortunes kept on happening to him." Taehyung looks at Luhan, "he created me... because of his father right?"

Luhan holds Taehyung's hand tighter. "Yes, he was 5 years old back then.. when his father was still beating him up and hurting his mother.." Taehyung stands up in irritation. He gets his jacket and is about to leave when Luhan spoke, "where are you going?"

Taehyung sighs, "I don't know. Maybe beat someone up or something.." "Taehyung..." Taehyung looks at Luhan, "Luhan, in this state I'm not sure when you'll see Baekhyun again. His persona is so deep in our body even I couldn't see him."

He didn't wait for Luhan to respond and opens the door but was surprised when he saw Chanyeol with some bags. Chanyeol looks at him in surprise, Luhan stands while Taehyung does not know what to react.
