Chapter 7

Chapter 7: wake up

I see blurred silhouettes as my eyes slowly come back into focus. "Adam?" I whisper recognizing his voice. My eyes come fully into focus and I am greeted by a bunch of familiar faces. Baylee, Adam, Scarlette, Jerome, and even Mitch.

They are all smiling at me silent and I get an awkward feeling fill the room. "Hi" Baylee says smiling. I smile. "Hey guys" I reply. "Look we got her to smile" Jerome chuckles. Mitch's smile dulls down and I can tell he is thinking about something.

I start to wonder about Lena and Dan. "Where's Dan?" I ask scared for the answer. At the same time wondering if he was really ok. There was silence. "He's in a different room" Scarlette tells me. "Is he ok?" I ask again eagerly. There is another awkward silence, making me assume they were waiting for someone to give me the news.

"He got bad head trauma... The doctor said that they don't really know what to expect until he wakes up" Jerome answers me. I become nervous. "How is Lena?" I ask trying to distract myself from thinking of Dan. Mitch looks at me now coming back from the mention of Lena's name. No longer day dreaming he replies. "She is in surgery... It is for a broken rib... I'm sure she will be fine."

I could tell Mitch was upset and he slowly fell back into a daydream, list in his train of thought. Jerome puts his hand on Mitch's shoulder. "Come on bud" Jerome says walking away and Mitch follows him. "Well.. What happen to me then?" I ask curious. "They said you have a concussion, and broke a few bones... It's an easy fix" Adam said with a smile hoping to cheer me up. Adam then walks away.

Scarlette goes over to Jerome and Mitch while they try and make Mitch fell better about the situation, leaving me and Baylee to talk alone. "So how are you feeling?" She asks, sitting on the bed. "My head hurts... Other than that I'm... Fine" I explain. "You sure your ok?" She asks. "I'm just worried... About Dan..." I reply trying no to cry. Baylee look at me in pity. "I'm really sorry about all this... It should have never happened" Baylee says trying to console me.

I don't respond worrying that speaking will risk me bursting into tears. I take a deep breath. "It's ok it's not your fault." I say faking a smile. She fakes a smile back. "Just know I'm always here for you Ally... If you ever need to talk..." She tells me. I nod looking into her green eyes to let her know I understand. "Ok..." She speaks before getting up.

Scarlette comes back right after Baylee leaves. "So how is the house?" I ask before she can say anything. "Oh... It's really nice! I think we got a good deal for the amount of money we are paying" Scar says smiling. "Can't wait to go!" I smile chuckling slightly. She laughs along with me. "Yea..." Scarlette says.

I say silent for a moment thinking. "Um... Did they tell you what happen to the person in the other car?" I ask. She doesn't answer for a moment and then shakes her head. "Ok..." I reply. "I like what you did to your hair!" I add, avoiding an awkward silence. "Oh thanks! I did it this weekend" Scar says with a big smile, twirling the blue ends of her hair around.

I hear the door open and everyone's in the rooms eyes instantly stare over at the door. A woman walks in. "Are any of you in hear named Mitch?" The woman asks. Everyone then looks at Mitch. "Yea I'm Mitch..." Mitch says looking depressed. "Oh the girl that was in surgery was asking for you" the woman says with a smile.

I see Mitch smile very slightly as he walks up to the woman. "Follow me!" She says with a smile bringing Mitch out of the room. This whole situation reminded me once again about Dan. Weather he was ok and if he would ever wake up.
