Chapter 5

Chapter 5: realization

I look at Dan's face that is covered in blood. His beautiful face now destroyed by scrapes and bruises. Tears fall from my eyes. He looks lifeless and pail. "This can't be happening" I whisper to myself, tears streaming down my face. "This has to en a dream" I whisper again sobbing.

I put my head down on his chest and cry. Moving my hands to my face. Just sobbing. I hear a car drive up and the sirens are every loud now. A car door opens and I hear mumbles and foot steps along the pavement.

I notice a small vibration coming from Dan's chest. A heart beat... My tears of sadness become closer to tears of happiness regardless of the tragedy that just occurred. He's alive. "Dan's alive..." I whisper sitting up. I then notice and ambulance and a man is approaching me and Dan.

I turn around and glance at Mitch trying to comfort Lena. "Everything is going to be ok" he whispers and over. His words being lies, and he knew very well that everything might not be ok. Lena just stared into his eyes unable to move from the pain.

I look back over at Dan and realize a mans feet at the edge of Dan's body followed by more people. The man kneels down and I look up at him. His eyes a nice green putting me into some trance helping me calm down. "My name is Jack... I'm going to need you to calm down" he speaks softly and looks into my eyes.

I nod taking a deep breath with my hand on Dan's chest. A woman kneels at Dan's head and presses her fingers on his neck. "We have a pulse" she yells back to the men standing by the ambulance. Another ambulance pulls up and they go and check on Lena and Mitch.

"Can you tell me your name miss?" The man from before asks. I look back at him more calm then before. "Alice... Alice White..." I whisper weakly. "Good... Now what's his name?" He asks again. "Um... Dan Howell" a speak a bit louder still weak.

"Ok... do you remember the day of the week?" He asks me another question. "It's Tuesday" I reply softly. I then start to think about everything that happened. Before the man could ask another question I stop him. "Can I call... Someone..." I speak weakly. He nods handing me his iPhone.

I dial a number and hit call putting the phone up to my ear. "Hello?" Someone answers. "Adam..." I whisper holding in tears. "Alice? Uh... Is everything ok?" Adam asks concerned. Before I could say another word I burst into tears, unable to hold it in. "Alice... Just calm down... What happen?" Adam said calmingly.

I sniffle and take a deep breath. "We crashed..." I whisper into the phone. There is silence on the other line. Adam speechless. "Uh.... Um... Is everyone ok? Where are you?" He asks in shock. "Mitch and Lena are ok..." I refuse to mention Dan considering it could cause me to burst into tears again. "We are on 1-580 East..." I whisper again. I could tell he was wondering about Dan but didn't mention him.

"Call me when got get to a hospital!" Adam says hanging up. I slowly move the phone from my ear staring at the pavement in a daze. I start to feel sick and light headed. Dropping the phone my body shakes. I look around and realize that they are putting Dan on a stretcher. While I was on the phone they had started to attack a bunch of wires to him and masks.

I shake in fear. "Don't take him away... Please I need him... Please" I whisper going into tears again. The man from before look at me with his calming eyes again. "You need to calm down... We are brining him to hospital to make him better" the man speaks softly.

I just sit there crying with no response. My head starts pounding and I get really weak almost unable to hold myself up. My muscles shake from lac of energy. Everything goes black again.
