Chapter 13

Chapter 13: it's all so complicated

I sit down on the bed facing the window. The view was just so beautiful I couldn't keep my eyes off of it. "Alice!" Someone yells, nearly startling me. I turn around. "Paige!" I yell running over to her. We both hug. I pull away after a few moments. "I was wondering where you guys were!" I say with a smile. "Yea... Something happen with my mom getting mad and stuff... Long story..." She rolls her eyes. I glance over her shoulder past her long brown hair and there's Perston.

Paige steps out of the way and Perston steps closer to me. I stood there unsure what to expect. He brought me right into a hug. I stood there a moment before hugging him back. "I'm sorry about the accident" he whispered. We step away from the hug. "It's ok... Everyone's alive... That's all that matters" I say with a smile. I look back over at Paige. "So how have you been!?!" She exclaims. I could tell she was excited for this trip.

"I could be better but I'm alive... How are you?" I ask keeping a smile on my face. "I'm just happy to be here!" She replies with a smile back. I stare into her brown eyes as she speaks as I do with everyone. I look down at her shirt. "Nice shirt" I giggle. She smirks. "Done tease me... You know I love batman!" She exclaims. I laugh. "Jerome's gonna give us a tour." Perston says dragging Paige out of the room. I watch as they leave and follow them out, walking down the stairs.

I glanced over at the front door and realized someone walking in. "Hey!!" They said when they opened the door. It was Jason and his girlfriend Megan. I kind of just stood there in the middle of the room staring at them. Megan instantly approached me. "Oh my god... Are you ok?" She asked. I didn't respond for a moment. "Yea... I'm fine" I finally reply, running my hand along the scrapes on my cheek.

I looked into her teal eyes and could feel the pity she had for me. "I love your hair!" I say trying to lighten the mood. She smiles. "Do you really think the purple looks good?" She asks. I nod, wishing my hair was as beautiful as hers. It was entirely purple and each curl was the perfect shape.

"Thanks you..." Megan said smiling. Adam and Dan had found themselves at the door greeting Jason while I talked with Megan. Dan seamed to remember Jason perfectly. Baylee stepped up from behind me startling me slightly. I got a slight feeling of overwhelmed. All these people in one place and most of them are almost strangers. I felt this fear start to build inside of me. Feeling slightly alone and light headed.

"Are you ok?" Baylee said grabbing my shoulder. I snapped out of it looking at her green eyes through her glasses. "Oh... Um... Yea..." I stuttered. She looked puzzled. "Are you sure?" Baylee questioned. I nod staring back down at the floor. "Come on... Let's go somewhere else..." She whispered grabbing my arm. I followed her as we walked to the back of the house again.

She brought me out to the balcony we stood on before. "Alice... Talk to me..." Baylee says looking into my eyes. I don't respond. Slightly in shock and defiantly overwhelmed. Baylee grabed me by my shoulders forcing me to look down at her slightly considering our height difference. "If you don't talk to me I can't help you..." She says in a very sincere tone. I nod. "I'm just... Overwhelmed... I don't know what to think anymore" I reply looking back out at the ocean. I closed my eyes trying to divert my attention to something else.

"Everything is going to be ok... You just need to try and forget and have some fun!" Baylee smiled fixing her glasses. I faked a smile, and she beloved it. "Ok let's go back inside..." She whispered and I followed her inside. All I want to do right now is go home. I want my mom, someone to comfort me, someone who really understands.
