Chapter 20

Chapter 20: alone with Dan

Alice's POV

Dan smirked looking down. I just blushed feeling awkward. He look ed back up and smiled at me. I just continued to smile back as we both stood in the middle of the room. Dan finally turned around with a big smile on his face and went to the living room. I followed.

He sat down on the plush black couch. He was wearing a black teeshirt that blended in with the couch like camouflage. I sat next to him. He had already grabbed the remote, turning on the flat screen TV. I had to fight the urge to snuggle into him. It was hard, considering I had a habit of that. I felt the memories coming back and I just closed my eyes and hoped they would stop.

"Do you want to watch a movie?" A voice spoke with a swift British accent. It was Dan of course. I loved his voice so much. It was one of my favorite things about him other than his charming personality. "Yea sure" I reply, ending the endless rant about how perfect Dan was in my head.

Dan started to browse through the movies that were rentable on the TV. "What would you like to watch?" Dan asked me politely. I started to think of movies I wanted to see. "At least give me a genre?" He joked cause I was taking a long time. I giggled. "How about The Hobbit?" I asked joking. "How bout not!" Dan joked back with a laugh.

I just smirked holding back the laughter. "Ok, what about Dr.Who Marathon!!" I yelled enthused. He laughed. "Hells yea!" He yelled. I couldn't stop giggling. Dan started to laugh. He went through the me he and found the Dr.Who seasons. "What the..." Dan mumbles. "How many seasons did I miss!" He says puzzled. My smirk changes to a more serious expression.

"You didn't miss them, you forgot them" I spoke. It sliped out. I regretted saying it now and i could tell he didn't really appreciate it by his expression. Dan made a almost doubtful and disappointed face. "Yea... I forgot" he spoke softly. He continued looking down. "Maybe we should just watch World War Z or something..." I suggested now feeling really bad.

"Ok..." He spoke. Dan's tone became less peppy and more monotone. He clicked on the movie and it started. I had already seen the movie and zombies didn't scare me much. I leaned back into the softness of the couch leaning a bit towards Dan but not yet touching him. I felt a random rush of exhaustion.

My eyes started closing but I forced them back open. My muscles slowly started to relax making me more and more tired and comfy. My eyes shut again, I was forced to open them a few seconds later. Then I had to give in to the temptation. I closed my eyes and this time they didn't open. I fell asleep.

A loud boom startled me causing my eyes to open quickly. It was the part when the plane crashes. I took a deep breath a bit to calm down my heart rate. It had been spiked from that jump scare in the film. I was leaning up against something warm and it was comforting me as I slept a bit cold from the night breeze.

Then I realized, it was Dan. I had fell onto him in my sleep. The thing that surprised me most was that he didn't move away. But what surprised me most was that his arm was placed around me. I began to get confused. Did he maybe remember? I mean, we went from standing in a room together awkwardly to snuggling in the spans of an hour.

I tried not to move hoping he didn't notice i was awake. I moved my head up slightly to look up at his face. Dan's eyes were lit up by the TV screen. He was very focused in the movie, I could tell from his expression. I smirked slightly looking back down and began to close my eyes again when Dan said, "oh hi!" Happily. I smiled and looked back up. "You knew I was awake?" I asked with a smirk. "Yes... Yes i did!" Dan laughed.

I put my hand to his chest forgetting about everything and smiled. He blushed and his smile disappeared. I pulled my hand away quickly and say up. "I-I'm sorry" I stuttered embarrassed. "It's fine" Dan smiled, making things less awkward. He moved his hand from around me. Dan grabed the remote and handed it to me. "I'll be right back..." He spoke standing up.

I looked up into his big brown eyes. Almost unable to move, his eyes leaving me in a trance. Dan began to walk away but I stoped him. "Wait, where are you going?" I asked. I then stood up as well and Dan turned around. "I just need some air. I'm going to the balcony." He replied. "Can I come?" I blurted out. Why would I say that! Stupid! He wants air. Obviously that means he wants to be away from you! I think to myself.

"Sure." Dan replies simply and he continues walking. A follow him walking closely behind him. I had a fear of being alone in the dark. I'm sure everyone has hear that before but I had actual reasons. Mostly just repressed memories.

As we walk through the hall way and my mind is wondering, I can't help but to grab Dan's hand. Right when I do it we both stop. Dan looks at me pulling his hand away for a moment. "Oh... Sorry..." I tell him looking down in disappointment. I'm getting tired of messing up like this. "Its really ok!" He replies.

As I look down I notice Dan move his hand back to mine and grasp it. I intertwined my fingers with him and looked back up at him. He had been smiling. We then continued our journey to the balcony as if nothing happened. We reach the room that leads to the balcony.

"I never realized the piano in here" Dan says stoping. I looked around and back down at the piano. Dan was almost in a daze staring at it. He looked up at me. Then looking back down at the piano, Dan released my hand. He slowly opened it revealing the dusty keys. Glancing up at me for a moment he sits down at a bench placed by the piano. Dan places his hands softly onto the keys, not playing them yet.

Dan lifted his hands before pressing down firmly causing the first note to ring out. The sound delighted my ears, sending chills up my arms. He then continued to play the song. His fingers dancing across the key board in a melody of notes. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever heard.

Every few notes would blend together giving me goose bumps. I stood to the side of Dan watching his hands move back and forth on the key board. I never wanted him to stop, for the song to never end. I listened carefully to the melody before realizing he was playing the piano part for the song 'Mad World'. It had been one of my favorite songs.

By the time I was done daydreaming and finally realized what the song was Dan had already been up to the last line of notes. The song ended and Dan played the keys with one last twirl of his finger. Dan sat there. Staring down at the keys with his hands still places on them. But no sound escaped the piano.

"I never knew you could play like that..." I whispered. Putting my hand on his. He finally looked up from the keys and stood. We were next to each other in the center of the room. The moonlight hit the water out of the window gently accenting the waves. There were millions of stars covering the sky and I felt as if it was the perfect moment.

Dan looked down at me and grabbed both of my hands. He began to lean closer into me. Closing his eyes. I closed my eyes as well and leaned into him. Our lips finally met. It was like a perfect scene from a movie. Me moved his hands to my waist, and I wraped my arms around his neck. I got never ending butterflies as the kiss became more passionate as the seconds went on.

Dan removed his lips from mine for air. "I remember..." Dan whispered. I felt a huge smile upon my face as I went in for another kiss. The kiss continued passionately as the realization set in. He remembers. I felt tears fill my eyes as we kissed. These were tears of happiness. After a few more seconds we stooped again. "I love you..." I whispered, smiling and a bit teary eyed. "I love you too..." Dan whispered back.
