Chapter 24: bang

"I'm so sorry about your crash..." Bridget said looking down. I put my hand up to my face running my fingertips along the cuts. "Is uh... Fine... We are alive! That's all that matters!" Dan said faking a smile. "It's not ok... Nobody should go through something like that..." The girl said looking into Dan's eyes. Dan looked away. I could tell he was thinking and I'm sure he didn't want to talk about it.

"You know... Sometimes people go through hard times in their life, and usually it's best to try and forget and move on." I said to Bridget as sincere as possible. "How long are you guys staying?" Rebeca asked all of us changing the subject to cover for her friend. "The whole summer" Adam said smiling. Dan stayed quiet still looking down slightly.

That moment I felt as if someone was watching me. Just this uneasy feeling like I would turn around just to find someone there. Staring, looking at me. I looked around trying to find the reason for this feeling but nobody in sight. Not an eye looked upon my body.

"Alice... You ok?" Dan whispered trying not to alarm anyone else. He looked at me so that nobody could read his lips. "Yea... Just zoning out that's all" I replied with a whisper back. He nodded slightly before looking back at the two girls.

"Would you mind if we both got to ask you guys questions?" Bridget asked looking at Rebeca and back at us. "That would be no problem" Adam answered for us. "First off, do you get offended by all the phan shippers" Bridget asked Dan. "Well I mean it makes me think a bit more before joking with phil because you guys might take it the wrong way but I'm not gonna let that bother me" Dan replied honestly.

"Ok my turn. How long have you guys been together and how did you meet?" Rebeca asked Adam and Baylee. "Well we actually met at minecon two years ago and we stayed in touch until we started dating about a year and a half ago." Adam answered while smiling at Baylee.

"Do you get hate a lot Alice?" Bridget interrupted. "I mean kinda but I don't mind it. What people say doesn't effect me, I've always been that way" I replied. I started to wonder why she would say that causing me to get lost in a train of thought. I mean think about it. That's kind of a nasty question and I've seen her eyeballing Dan this whole time. Like she thinks she has a chance with him. This isn't a fan fiction where some die heart fan falls in love with their favorite youtuber. I've known Dan since we were 14.

My phone then began to ring and I wondered for what reason. My ringtone had been set to Dan singing a song that he had made up near Christmas. I never got calls and had forgotten to change it. "Don't step on the glass, tinsel in your foot, bubble in your foot, bubble in your eye, everybody cries" it rang before me answering the phone. Dan just began to laugh uncontrollably.

"Hello?" I spoke. There was silence for a moment."oh hi! Alice?" A girls voice spoke. I knew it was Megan. "Yea what's up?" I said wondering what's wrong. She never calls she only texts. "It started raining here and we are on our way back" Megan said. "It's not raining here..." I replied a bit confused. "We are like an hour or so away..." Megan said.

I looked at the sky and realized some clouds in the distance. "Oh I see the clouds. Alright we are still at lunch" I stated. "Ok, also we met up with Felix and Berry!" Megan added. "Oh cool! Are they going to stay over?" I asked politely. "The guys are talking about it now" she replied. "Ok see you later then, I'm sure we will be home when you get there. We should probably leave Panera before the rain comes" I explained. "Ok whatever you do is fine. See you later bye!" Megan finished. "Bye!" I exclaimed hanging up.

I looked at everyone and put my phone away. "We should go soon cause there is a storm coming" I spoke quietly. "That's fine with us!" Adam said. "Aw that means you have to leave" Bridget said with a pouty face. She was looking directly at Dan's eyes and he blushed. It got me a bit pissed but I ignored it. She's just a fan Alice, get yourself together!

"You guys can talk to the girls for a few more minutes I'll go throw everything out and stuff." I volunteered. "Get me a water while your at it!" Baylee waled. I could tell she was a bit hyper. I give her a tired of your shit look. "Please!" She pouted. "Fine..." I smirked. I piled up all the bowls and plates on the tray so they were sturdy. As I reached down to grab the tries Dan's hand met mine. "You sure? I can do it..." Dan said looking into my eyes.

"I'm fine" I blushed smiling. He smiled back and I continued what I was doing. I picked up the try with all the stuff piled on top if it and walked inside. I placed the try on the garbage can so I could throw everything out and put the plates in the compartment to the side of the trash. When I was done I put the trays in their directed spot and walked to the cashier. "Hello how may I help you?" A young boy had turned around from a conversation he had been having with a coworker.

His eyes widened when he looked at me. "Can it just have a water bottle?" I asked nicely. The boy was silent for a moment still with wide eyes. "Oh, yea um... Water... You need water, gotcha!" He stuttered. I could not help but to giggle. I looked down blushing and smirked. He came back with a water bottle. I watched as he place the water on the counter and began to ring it up.

"That will be $2.50" he said. As he went to put his hand out to collect the water bottle he hit over the water bottle. "Uh sorry..." He stuttered again panicked. He quickly picked up the water bottle. I handed him the money and grabbed the water bottle. "Have a nice evening..." I said laughing slightly as I went to turn around. "Yea what you said..." The boy said. There was a slight pause as I started walking away.

"Wait!" The boy hesitated. I turned around wondering what the problem was. I had walked back to the register. "I think your really pretty." He said, his face turning bright red. "Oh well I'm flattered." I said with a big smile and being very sincere. "Could I maybe.. Um... Get your number?" The boy asked stuttering. I debated whether to just tell him I had a boyfriend or give it to him to be nice.

I was silent for a minute. "Uh... Well I kinda ha-" I said being cut off by a sound. The sound caused my chest to crush into a million pieces as a panicked. It was a loud crack. Followed by another. And another, causing people to scream in horror. A shot. I looked out the front window of the store where the seats were. "Oh my god..." I whispered.
