Chapter 27: make a move

Baylee POV

*minutes earlier*

Adam held my tightly as I shook in fear. I knew that I might need to risk my life to make this man pay. I closed my eyes and began to squeeze Adam tightly. It became silent and I tried to calm down by taking deep breathes.

"Alice No!" A voice yelled. The noise forced my eyes open alerting me and I heard the click of the door. I felt overwhelmed for a moment before looking around and studying the situation. Adam let I of me and I realized that Alice had went outside. As I looked out the window I saw her at Rebecca's side.

"Oh shit..." Adam whispered. Right then Dan whipped past me and Adam towards the door and I watched as he put his hand out ready to open it. He froze. I then realized why. A man was standing in front of Alice. His hands were in his pockets. He then took one out. A gun. He was holding a gun. The shop went dead silent. I saw Alice look up. Dan began to back up slowly.

I think he was in shock an trying to think of a plan quickly before it was too late. "There's... No time... It's to late..." Dan whispered still backing up slowly. "He's gonna kill her." Dan whispered again. I started to wonder, realizing that the chance of us living was slim. If he comes in here he will kill us all. I watched as Alice stood, she was now shaking. We were all hidden in the darkness of the kitchen.

Alice took out her phone as the man continued pointing the gun at her. I saw her hand shake as she hit the numbers on the phone. I began to hear a loud buzz that stopped shorty before buzzing again, and again. Dan's face turned pale and I saw him throw his arm forward. His phone when flying across the room, my eyes followed the phone as it flew expecting there to be a big crash as it hit the floor but to my suprize. Bridget had caught it.

She had a panicked look on her face as she struggles to turn the phone off. She held the button until sliding her finger across the screen ending the vibrating. I looked back at Dan and he stood as still as a twig. When I looked back out at Alice I saw the man pointing the gun more firmly at her head and I could now hear his deep voice as he demanded her to tell him where Dan was.

She closed her eyes and I could tell she was about to cry, I know that look of distress she has when she's fighting the urge to cry. Alice never cries but in this situation, anyone would cry. Dan started for the door. "Dan, wait!" Adam whispered. Dan ignored Adams remark and reached for the door. Adam was about to run after him but hesitated. It was then too late Dan had opened the door.

I could hear the man outside yell "I'm gonna ask you again... where's Dan!?!" And Alice remained silent. I saw her trying to get words out but she couldn't. Then the door closed and Dan stood staring at them both. "Answer me!" I heard the mans voice tell a bit muffled. I could see Alice speaking but she was too quiet to hear. "I'm here!" Dan then yelled, his voice muffled by the glass.

The mans attention was diverted to Dan and his grip on the gun loosened. Alice ran forward knocking the gun from the mans hands. The man looked a bit stunned at the fact that she fought back. Dan began to punch the man across the face. His punches were very firm and effected. I looked down at Alice realizing that she had face planted and had scraped her face on the cement.

My attention went back to Dan when he was pushed into a table stumbling over it and falling to the floor weakly. I couldn't watch, I know this would end badly. I turned to Adam. Trying to to look. "We have to do something! We have to help..." I started off speaking loudly and slowly faded into a whisper as tears filled my eyes.

"We have to go Adam, we must help them," I whispered again, trying not to start balling. Adam was pale, I could tell he was in shock unsure what to do. Then that noise again. That bang of terror. I twirled around with a gasp the noise startling me and instantly sprung forward toward the door. The man was bleeding and now on the floor and Dan laid there. Alice began to close her eyes and her face bloody from scrapes. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I never thought in my life I would be involved in some kind of murder scene, all the blood splattered on the floor. The fear in everyone's eyes. I know that this moment has defiantly changed me. I never thought one moment could change my perspective on life. Dan sat up. I watched as he looked around before noticing Alice.

"Alice! Keep your eyes open! Don't do this to me again! Stay with me! Come on baby! Keep your eyes open! I just got you back!" Dan shouted. He kneeled next to Alice as he spoke to her, but her eyes continued to close until they were fully shut. I stood at the door as my fingertips grazed the door knob. Watching but a bit to shocked to do any action. Out of the corner of my eye I saw movement.

As I looked toward the movement I realized the man was standing up. My eyes widened and I froze. Dan was oblivious to the man as Dan shouted at Alice slowly kissing hope. I watches the mans every move speechless. The man bent down grabbing the gun. He slowly stood back up and lifted his arm. No. This can't happen. I can't. Let this happen...

The mans moved his hand to the trigger. I couldn't let them die. Not both of them. It would be my fault. Time slowed down. I pushed the door and watched the mans finger pull down on the trigger. With all my power I yelled "No!" As loud as I possibly could. The man turned to me pulling the trigger. Once again. The bang. My stomach dropped. I feel backward from some force that had pierced through me.

I sat on the floor unable to breath, time remained slow and there was silence. Nothing soon turned into pain. I moved my hand down to my stomach where the pain was. As I removed my hand it was covered in a red substance. My blood. "A-Adam" I stuttered. My breaths became heavy and it was hard to breath. "Adam..." I began to cry.
