Chapter 29: nightmare

Alice POV

Darkness. Silence. My mind is clear. Empty of thought. But at the same time full of thoughts. Everything is jumbled up inside my head. Each thought screaming, wanting it's chance to speak. But that screaming just causes silence in all the emptiness. I ask myself questions but they slowly disappear before they can be answered.

All my thoughts hit my at once. Driving my crazy as I begin to panic. Then things begin to appear around me. I begin to appear in a village. But this village has a dark feeling to it. The brick buildings two story's high darkened by overgrown ivory that grows up the sides. The paved street that is indeed just grey bricks, some missing making holes. The whispered stop.

The sky is a darkened grey as if it were about to rain. I look around, surrounded by these tall brick buildings. All of the windows were covered by curtains on the inside, all the doors shut. "Where am I?" I whisper. I looked down the street realizing an ally. I couldn't helped but be compelled to check it out, letting curiosity get the best of me. My feet dragged my forward toward the door.

I looked down at the pavement realizing I wasn't in my usual clothes. I was wearing black and white striped socks up to my knee. A black dress, down to my mid thigh, it was a a dark grey, a bit fluffy at the bottom. The top tightened at my waist and had sleeves down to my elbow. Both the dress and socks were dirty with small holes as if they had been worn out.

I got slightly confused. Putting my hands to my forehead as I stopped walking. Running my fingers through time hair all the way to the ends, but some of it was missing. The length only went down to my shoulders. It's black color remained. I looked back up at the alley. There was something over there, sticking out from the shadows. I then begin walking again.

Wonder what it was I was seeing. As I got closer I began to realize it was some kind of animal. A black cat. The cat backed up into the shadows as I reached the alley. It had vanished. I glanced down the ally and easily could see the other side. "Meow" a small boise whimpered from the other side of the alley. I began walking slowly across to the other side hopping to find the cat.

When I finally got to the other side I realized it had led to another small area like the village I arrived in. All the windows and doors closed, the ivory growing up the buildings. In a bit of fear and confusion I turned back, why was I trying to catch a car anyway. But to my disbelief the alley I had arrived from had a wall on the other side. As if I was not blocked in. I stepped backward trying to wrap my head around it.

Before I could question anymore I was how walking toward the alley at the other side of the street. But this time I wasn't in control of my body. I began to jog into the alley. Getting to the other side into an area exactly like the first. As I continued being forced to go from alley to ally I realized that every village I entered was identical. Like I was in some kind of time loop.

One after the other making my more insane. "Stop running" I whispered. Hoping I would become in control of my body again. "Stop!" I raised my voice. As I ran through another alley I just closed my eyes. "stop!" I screamed. My body stopped. I was surprised. I opened my eyes slowly. Once again, standing in the middle of tall old brick buildings. But it was different this time. The door at the end of the street. It was open.

Not all the way but it was open a crack. I began to walk slowly along the pavement my feet only covered by socks as I stepped on the cold ground. I took a few seconds to reach the door. I leaned to the left to try and look inside before opening the door but it was only cracked open. As I stood back up strait the door swung open.

I jumped back startled. "Hello?" I called. I began to walk inside. "Is anyone here?" I raised my voice. There was a hallway with doors lining the sides, at the end was a staircase. The paint on the walls was pealing off and there was dust and dirt covering the floor. The floor boards were breaking slightly.

Something fuzzy brushed across my leg causing me to look down. The black cat ran in between my legs and down the hall. It sat on the staircase. It let out a small meow as it waited. I started to walk down the hall toward the cat. As I got closer it ascended up the stairs and I followed. The stairs creeked as I walked up. At the top was another hallway. The cat sat in the doorway of a room halfway down the hall to the left.

I continued cautiously walking following the cat. It walked into the room before I reaches the arch of the door, disappearing as it got inside. I stood in the doorway looking around the room. There was a bed, damaged, and tearing away. A dresser to the right with a mirror and a window. But the thing that caught my eye most were drawings. All over the wall by the bed. Aside from the paint that was tearing away, someone had drawn things all over the wall in black crayon.

I stepped into the middle of the room walking toward the bed. A teddy bear was placed onto the bed. It was brown and covered in dirt, faded, with small holes. I picked up the bear gently as I looked up at the wall reading the words, studying the drawings. As I studied the drawings closely I realized a very demented theme to them. It was very dark almost creepy. These kind of imaginary creatures someone made up and drew on the walls.

Then I began reading. "Leave me alone... There inside..." I whispered to myself. Reading what the wall had said. "Were all mad." I whispered more. I looked down at the bear. Its fur was now covered in blotches of red. The red blotches got bigger and bigger and I slowly realized it was blood. Removing my hands from the bear it fell the the ground. The whispers began again. "Run... There coming... Death... Shadows will take you" the voiced whispered throughout the room.

The blood was not only on the bear but it now spread onto my hands. "Go!" A voice screamed from behind. I spun around now facing the mirror. I was covered in blood. Red stains covered my clothes and face. "No..." I whispered looking at my reflection. The wall behind me became black as a black mist slowly came closer to me. The whispers got louder and louder. Becoming screeches. "stop!" I whispered covering my ears. "Make it stop!" I whispered again. I bent down closing my eyes huddling into a small ball. "Make it stop!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. The voices got unbearable. I couldn't even hear myself scream. I shouted "stop!" And the voices screamed. Then they stopped.

My eyes were forced open and I took a deep breath. Crying hysterically. "Alice, relax! What happen?" I was greeted by Dan's concerned face. "Dan!" I whispered in tears. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in tightly.
