Lyle woke up a few times but went back to sleep almost immediately after. It finally reached the time of day where the sun shines so perfectly angled that it shows through the windows and onto the floor. They both woke up near the same time and smiled right as they saw each other.
Lyle asked if he could stay in bed a bit longer and Cass responded with an of course, she went to take a shower and Lyle laid with the blankets half on him staring at the ceiling. He hated to admit it, God dammit he hated admitting it with passion, but Lyle's mental state wasn't... Alright.
He felt awful for feeling awful in the presence of her, because to him she was the definition of everything. But as he woke up he started getting anxious and shaking a bit, he also got a bit depressed but he was mostly in a state of panic.
Cass got out of the shower, she dried off and got dressed and then went to check on Lyle, who was sitting silently with his knees tucked up so as he rested his head on them they'd cover his mouth. He looked as if he were about to cry but he didn't, he didn't want her worrying, but she did.
She rushed over to him plopping down beside him hesitating if she should even touch him or if he would panic more. He could barely talk, the only noises that would resonate were small fragments of words, he gave up trying to speak after attempting one sentence.
"May I comfort you through hugging or will that make you even more panicked?" She asked, worried about him.
"You -an." He said realising he didn't complete another word which caused him to panic a bit more.
She hugged him from behind, he felt like he was trapped underwater with no way of swimming upward or breathing, he thought he might die. All of the sudden from the sheer amount of pressure and stress, his nose started bleeding, of course this didn't help at all.
He sat staring downward now with blood running down the lower half of his faces and tears streaming down his cheeks. He was silent and lost in thoughts as Cass wiped away the blood with tissues. He wasn't thinking about anything but at the same time he was thinking about everything. Cassie tried comforting him until she decided talking to him would be her best shot.
"Lyle, please understand that I'm not mad at you for having an anxiety attack."
He didn't respond.
"I know these things are pretty common for you and I just want you to feel better ya know?"
No response.
"I love you and no matter how much your mental illness acts up I refuse to leave your side."
Silence, until he frailly turned around and hugged her, she wrapped her arms around him too, trying to calm him down even if it was just a little bit.
There they sat, hugging, he stopped and she looked at him.
"I can make you some breakfast and coffee if you'd like, you can just stay in bed, I'm completely fine with that." She smiled which made him a bit better and he nodded getting back in bed. His face had some traces of blood on it and still had damp marks from the tears, he was still panicking but for a part he had it under control.
Cassie made them both pancakes with whipped cream and a strawberry on top of both mounds of whipped heaven and him a mug of coffee, she brought both the coffee and pancakes to him in bed. He smiled weakly and nodded as thanks before eating, she ate with him and Bandit laid on the bed at his side.
Cass talked to him for an hour, even then he was still a bit anxious but better than before. Cassie texted Nina about what had happened and so Nina and William both went looking around town without them wishing Lyle their best wishes. They decided just to stay there all day which felt like the best option.
They ended up watching a movie and listening to the vinyl Lyle gave her while talking. They knew all the words to the songs but Ruby was the favoured song of the record, and singing it together was amazing. They talked about their plans for the future, the fact Lyle owned a NASA shirt had meaning seeing as he was studying to be an Aeronautical Engineer and work at NASA, a dream he was confident in and proud of.
Cassie always wanted to work as some form of culinary professional but ever since the two months in the hospital the setbacks of weak legs and lungs was major. She decided that even though college tuition was free in Sweden going would be a challenge and she put off thinking about it.
Now they laid on the floor looking at the night sky right on the indoor side of the sliding glass doors that lead to her small balcony that her apartment had. They held hands and just laid quietly, admiring it all, especially admitting each other. They were both finally ok, and this satisfied both of them as they headed off to bed.
They changed and then laid down and both fell asleep close to instantly. Bandit laid at the bottom of the bed and all was quiet and content. Though that day had been hectic they all managed and it really did pay off for them to spend time with each other instead of apart. Their love was indescribable, it was just, well, endless.
