Lyle went through a lot as a kid. When he was two his parents fell into a complete financial disaster. This caused them to have to put their four children, seven year old Porter, five year old Ginger, two year old Lyle, and six month old Lily, up for adoption.
Thankfully, the four didn't get separated and got adopted by a seemingly young woman and her husband. All was well until Lyle reached the age of three and his step parents got a divorce, leading to them never seeing their step father again.
His step mother fell into a hole of alcohol, anger, and sadness. Lyle, at the time six years old, witnessed and felt as she went from seemingly normal to abusive. One experience of hitting six year old Lyle spiralled on into four years of physical and emotional abuse for every one of the siblings.
Lyle who had already been diagnosed with apraxia stayed quiet throughout those four years, both out of inability and fear, and so did his siblings who stayed quiet out of the thought of the horrifying consequences, well until Lyle met Cassie.
They met when Lyle was nine, almost ten. She referred to him as Ly not knowing the rest of his name, and he referred to her as Cass not putting thought into her name being Cassie. They stayed friends and Cass found out about the abuse, she ended up telling authorities and getting his step mom put in jail which Lyle was completely grateful for.
After his step mom was put in jail Cass was unaware of where he went, so now sitting near this childhood friend whom bared so much and is now almost completely mentally broken, she asked. "So Ly, what did happen after your step mom got put in jail?"
He responded, his voice still shaky and his words still elongated. "Well they contacted my biological parents first to ask if they wanted custody again, they were completely out of debt so they happily complied, now I'm with my actual mother and father and yea it's been pretty tough getting over the torment, but it's nice being with them again."
She smiled, she was glad he was in a nice environment and doing well. After a few more minutes of looking at the city and talking they decided to head back to her apartment. They took the same to subway trains back to Stockholm where they both walked back to her apartment.
