They sat until ungodly hours looking at pictures of them together as kids, it was absolutely amazing. They joked and talked and they reminisced for quite awhile before finally deciding to go to sleep. They put the box on the dresser and laid down drifting off into sleep.
The next morning Lyle woke up last as Cass woke up early to do some of his laundry, when he got up she was wearing his NASA shirt, it was big on her but he thought it looked perfect on her. "I see you put on my shirt eh?" He said, wearing a David Bowie shirt and unusually enough his glasses. "It's a really nice shirt to be honest." She said looking down at it. He smiled and made coffee for the both of them, that day Cass invited Nina and William over so they were expecting them to arrive whenever.
Cass made breakfast for Lyle and Lyle made breakfast for Cass, as they finished up eating they heard a knock on the door, Cass answered it and Nina immediately gasped. "You're wearing his shirt oh my god yes." Nina said grinning and Cassie smiled, William rolled his eyes and pushed through the two, sitting down on the couch next to Lyle. Nina and Cass eventually sat down and they all talked for awhile.
Cass decided she might as well cook lunch so she sat up and asked them a question, "So if I just make a bunch of ramen is that ok for lunch because I like hoard that shit and honestly I'm really lazy so...?" They all said it was fine, well except William who just said I don't care just don't taint it you, and I quote, 'end piece of bread that no likes.'
She made a ton of ramen, she called it a masterpiece and both Nina and Lyle agreed. They all ate, adding their own vegetables and stuff to it, they all joked about a lot of things, most of which was current events in the world that they found they could crack a joke about and also just stories from their lives that they all found funny.
They talked for hours, watching t.v. a tiny bit in between long conversations. They all got tired at around midnight, which is when Nina and William left. Lyle went and changed into something he could sleep in which was just a t-shirt and his briefs. Cass got changed too even though it was upsetting to take off his shirt because of how comfortable it was.
They sat down on the couch, the t.v. was still on so they watched it for a bit while cuddled up next to each other.
"Lyle." She said.
"Hmm?" He responded, looking down at his small girlfriend.
"I love you and I'm sorry."
"Sorry about what?"
"Sorry about everything that you've been through, honestly you have been through so much it's surprising you are even this stable."
"Half of the time I don't realise how much all of it has really affected me, a lot of the things I do now because of it are more like instinct if anything."
"No one should ever have to put up with what you had to deal with though."
"Abuse is something that I wish I could stop but honestly I just don't know how, you know it's like the feeling of helplessness like you want to help but you can't because you are too scared of it, actually now that I think about it... You did find a hole in that didn't you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Cass, you're the reason I'm ok, you saved my life, you did find a way to help you are the loophole in that feeling, you had no fear in standing up to anyone, I admire you and literally owe you everything."
"I'm very happy that I did get you out of that situation when we were kids, telling someone about your step mom was hard because I was scared that they wouldn't believe me. I'm glad they did though, if it wasn't for any of the people I told I'd be full of guilt for not saying anything."
He hugged her silently, she ran her hand through his hair and kissed his forehead,
"Do you wanna go to sleep?" Cass asked.
"Yea." Lyle replied, he stood up and she hesitated a bit.
"I'm extremely sorry for asking this but... My legs hurt quite a bit so can you help me there?"
He nodded then picked her up bridal style and laid her gently down before plopping down next to her.
"Good night Cass, oh yea one more thing, I thought you looked adorable in that shirt." He said, she smiled as she gazed at him.
"Good night, thank you for letting me wear it." She responded, he told her no problem as he shut off the light and they both fell asleep.
