Life of Flamestrike

Chapter 4: Poppyspring

A few moons have passed since Hollyspring talked to Pebblestar. Flamepaw and Hollyspring would sometimes see each other at gatherings, other times along the border. However, it has been a moon since Flame last saw Holly. Flame started to get worried, so he decided one day to sneak out into WindClan territory to see if Hollyspring was okay.

"I can't believe I'm doing this..." He says, crossing the border. He quickly scents a new WindClan cat, who is alone. He hides behind a rock, hoping she doesn't see him. "Who's there!?" She calls, unsheathing her claws. SHIT!  Flame thought, knowing he got caught. He tries to stay hidden, but the she-cat eventually spots him. "What are you doing?" She asked, suspicious.

Flame jumps. "Er, I, uh.... I got lost." He said, trying to hide his real reason. "Why are you REALLY here?" She said, eyes narrow. Flame sighs in defeat. "I'm... um... if I say, can you please not tell anyone?" "Depends on what it is." The WindClan cat says. "Er... I was worried about Hollyspring, and wanted to see if she was okay." Flame says, giving up. "Oh... um... she died about a week ago." The WindClan cat says. "WHAT!? How could she-!?" Flame says, wide-eyed and shocked. "I'm sorry..." She says. "Well... what happened?"

"She chased a rabbit into a collapsing cave." She states. "WHAT!? How could she just throw away her life like that!?" "She didn't. She was old, and her vision failed her." Flame was surprised by the news. "She was OLD!? She looked so young!" "Yea, I heard she took care of herself really well." She said, purring. "Apparently! I thought she was a new warrior!" "Oh, no, she was about to join the elders when she died. I'm a new warrior, so I didn't know her myself."

"Really? Then what's your name? I'm Flamepaw!" "Poppyspring." She replied. "Well, you seem like a nice cat. I need to get back to camp. Hopefully we'll see each other again!" Flamepaw says, going back to camp. "Yep!" She said, before continuing on her patrol.
