When Flamestrike returned to RiverClan camp, Appletail ran up to him, smiling. "What's up?" He purred. "Podzol and I are mates now!" Appletail purred. "Great! Congratulations!" Flamestrike purred. "I was going to rest after that last patrol." "Okay." Appletail said. The next morning, Flamestrike was lying by the pond when Moonsun suddenly appeared next to him. "Hey." She purred.

"Moonsun?" Flamestrike said, recognizing the StarClan cat. "Quick question, should I start counting how many visits I have had from StarClan on a wall or something?" Flamestrike joked. Moonsun paused. "At this point, it wouldn't be a bad idea." "Well, why are you here?" Flamestrike asked. "I got bored." She shrugged. Flamestrike looked behind her to see Silverdream being murdered by another StarClan cat. "So.... Ashen's fixed." Flamestrike observed.

"Huh?" Moonsun looked behind her. "Oh. It would seem so." She purred. "Attack!" A voice came, then suddenly two rouges jumped out at Flame and Moonsun, one of them being Wires. "What-!?" Flamestrike is interrupted by the new rouge landing on him. "What the hell are you doing!?" Flamestrike yowled, kicking him off. "Hmm... I had hoped nobody would be awake... I might as well explain. My name is Whitefoot, and Wires-over there-and I are here to wipe out your clan." He snarled. "You mean... KILL US IN OUR SLEEP!? YOU FUCKING COWARD!!" Flamestrike unsheathed his claws. "No, it's called strategy!" Whitefoot said, and the battle continued.

Two Dark Forest warriors then appeared on Flamestrike's flank. "Shit! Fall back!" Flamestrike and Moonsun quickly ran back to the pond. While running, Shimmerpaw ran up and attacked the Dark Forest warrior in the center. Flamestrike and Moonsun quickly turned around and started fighting again near the pond, Moonsun attacking Whitefoot and Flamestrike attacking Wires. Flamestrike was on the right end of the line, and was about to be flanked by the unoccupied Dark Forest warrior. "Shimmerpaw, help!" Flamestrike called. "Don't!" A voice called as another StarClan cat appeared, attacking the Dark Forest warrior.

They tried to push the Dark Forest warrior back, but failed. "So our line doesn't get rolled up, let's reform in that gap between the pond and rock!" Flamestrike suggested. "No need! I'm pushing Whitefoot back!" Moonsun called. "Nevermind then!" Flamestrike jumped back at Wires, attacking her. By this point, Moonsun had pushed Whitefoot to a tree on the edge of camp. Whitefoot dodged Moonsun's attack and climbed up the tree. Meanwhile, the StarClan warrior pinned the Dark Forest warrior. "Do you not know when to give up!?" The StarClan tom yowled. "I will NEVER give up!" The Dark Forest warrior yelled. "Then I guess I have no choice." The StarClan warrior slashed the Dark Forest warrior's throat, killing him.

Moonsun was preparing to chase Whitefoot up the tree when Whitefoot jumped down and landed on Moonsun's back. "Get of-" Moonsun began before she was bitten in the throat, making her collapse. Whitefoot then saw the fading Dark Forest warrior. "SHIT!! RETREAT!!!!!" The other Dark Forest warrior disappeared with Whiteclaw, and Wires ran off. "Moonsun!" Flamestrike and the others quickly ran over to her. "This... this is how it ends..." Moonsun said, coughing up blood. "Moonsun, no! We won!" The StarClan warrior pleaded. "Y-yes... but at what c-cost?" Moonsun closed her eyes for the final time and started to fade away. "Damn it!!" The StarClan warrior yowled, tearing up the ground.

Flamestrike put his tail on the warrior's shoulder. "I'm sorry..." Flamestrike said, feeling several emotions mixed together. He turned away. "I'm going to come up with a defense plan. I'm going to try and discover what route they took to get here. Anyone want to come with?" He asked. "I will." Tigerfang walked over. "I saw what happened, and I'll be damned if I let them get away with that." He said, his voice trembling in anger. "Well, let's go then." Flamestrike sighed, and the two left camp.

Tigerfang scented the air. "They came through this valley, it seems." "Ok... so they might use this path again next time. He looks around. "There's a point in the ridge back there where the valley makes that sharp turn near camp... we need to hold that..." Flamestrike keeps looking around. "There's a tall hill over there on the other side of the valley... ok, I have a plan. Next time they come back, we'll have one group block the valley, one on that point, and one on that hill over there. If they come back down this valley, that first group will engage them for a bit before the other two patrols charge down the hill slopes. That should nearly surround them and make them retreat." "Sounds good to me." Tigerfang purred, and they went back to camp. Flamestrike told the others his plan, and they all agreed. He then went to his den to get some much-needed sleep.
