"We're moving to Marshall to be closer to you." Grandpa told me after I looked in my stocking and found a we're moving card. Cal was smiling just as wide.
"No way!" I said. They both were still smiling. "NO WAY!" I said louder. They both were now going to live so much closer. "Once we're done with gifts you need to get to packing." Cal said.
"Oh she can get started tomorrow Calvin. Oh and a few friends are going to help us move." Grandpa said. I nodded. I knew who he was talking about. The guys I hung out with for most of my childhood.
Once all the gifts were open I started packing the clothes I had in the dresser, leaving those I got as Christmas gifts.
"Tessica get packed we need you to take the horses." Grandpa yelled. I threw more clothes into my huge two suitcases. Cal came up taking them out to my truck.
I grabbed my two huge duffles and put them in their rooms. I got my phone and ran to the barn. Grandpa was already haltering horses. Four main horses and six we never really use anymore.
"Get hitched up your leaving after lunch. Theirs a blizzard moving in and we've got to get them out before it hits." He told me. I ran for my truck and hitched up the trailer.
"Catch that horse!" I turned around just in time to jump and grab a black foal. He looked into my eyes calming down. I stuck my hand through the cheek strap and led him back to the barn.
I grabbed a lead and clipped it to his halter. Then a thermal blanket. Grandpa took the foal and put him up. I checked the lights and replaced bulbs that needed it.
Then we ate a quick lunch. I made sure I had everything I needed and kissed them both goodbye. "We'll see you soon squirt. Drive safe and be careful when it hits." Grandpa warned.
"I will." I told him. "Let us know when you hit the state lines." Cal told me. "I promise Cal." I replied. He have me a hug and they both sent me out. The horses were loaded and I was off. A foot of snow already covered the ground.
I got onto the highway going at least eighty. The roads were dry and clear. When I got to the first state line I called them telling them I was still rolling.
Once I got to Oklahoma City I grabbed lunch and drove on. Grandpa called saying they were on the road. The blizzard was right on their tail. I continued until the Texas state line almost at midnight.
I called telling them I was passing the Texas state line. Logan called asking how my day went.
"Had a good morning then was forced to leave early due to a blizzard." I told him, yawning afterwards."How long have you been driving?" He asked.
"About seven hours." I told him. "Find someplace to pull off and get some sleep. You need it." He told me. "I know I'm almost to Dallas." I told him."Find a gas station pull off park get some rest." I knew he was right about that. I needed the rest.
"If I have to I'll drive up to where you are and drive you back.""Logan I don't know." I said pulling off seeing a gas station.
"Tess listen. Get some sleep and continue on in the morning. I want you safe." He sounded worried now. "Ok. I'll call you tomorrow when I get back on the road." I told him parking."I'll talk to you in the morning buttercup. I love you."
"Love you too hero." I said before ending the call and taking my boots off. I curled up in the drivers seat with his hoodie on.When he said he'd come up and actually drive me the rest of the way back that told me that he was wanting me to get rest even if it meant he got non. Then when he told me sternly to pull off and get sleep, I knew he was scared of something happening to me if I did continue to drive.
