Anger and stress were two very different priorities that I didn't need on my plate right now. As I pulled into the driveway I grabbed the mail. Flipping through the endless array of credit card scams, donations and the occasional advertisements, a thick black envelope managed to slip through the stack and fall onto my lap. I placed the rest of the mail in the passenger seat and picked up the envelope with my name and address written in gold script. There was no return address except for the name: REAPER CASTLE. Almost immediately, I knew what this envelope was regarding.

Turning the envelope over, I began opening the flap as it started to rip across the top. Inside was an invitation to an exclusive private party. The invitation requested black-tie and masquerade masks. Simple enough, I thought as I parked Jason's corvette in the garage and entered the house. The smell of rich dark coffee drifted through the air as I climbed the stairs with the mail in hands and the car key in my coat pocket. Jason was already in the kitchen quietly sipping his mug as he turned to face me. I dropped the mail on the island counter and made my way past him, opening the cabinet and grabbing myself a glass.

"Nothing but useless junk," Jason muttered. "Hey. What's this? Oh, wow. This is fancy."

I filled my mug as I glanced over my shoulder. "An invitation to a private party tonight."

"It says here that the party is black-tie and masquerade masks. Are we going?"

"I don't know. Do you want to go?"

"Well, yeah. I mean, I'd like to go. But only if you want to."

"Then we'll go. It'll be nice to get out of this house for a change, just the two of us. I know it's been awhile since our trip to Rome that we've had a night out on the town."

"Great! I have just the outfit to wear and it's never been worn. Though I may have to get it fitted since, well you know."

"Absolutely. I know a good alteration store in town. All my suits you see there in my closet are all custom fit just the way I like it."

Taking my mug by the handle, I left the kitchen as I pressed a kiss to Jason's forehead and sneaked upstairs to my home office. I set the mug down next to the phone as I powered up my laptop and started to work on answering emails, making calls and finish signing the last of the newly appointed contracts that were set to go out. But five hours later there was a knock at my door. I called out to him to come in as Jason appeared wearing his suit. The suit was black, the dress shirt white with a black bow-tie to match. Except for the noticeably small baby bump and the shortness in his jacket and sleeves he looked perfect.

"What do you think?"

I sat back in my chair as I looked him up and down. "You look good. You were right though about needing to have it fitted. I'll make a call and take your suit with me when I go into town."
